NIGERIA ENERGY FORUM 9TH AFRICA ENERGY INNOVATION COMPETITION

The 9th Africa Energy Innovation Challenge organized by NEF challenges youth-led early-stage energy entrepreneurs across Africa to collaborate with local research institutions or industries to develop a prototype model of a key device/equipment for a social energy enterprise, agri-business, fintech solutions or energy management system using local resources.

ELIGIBILITY:

Proposals are invited across four innovation tracks for early-stage energy entrepreneurs from Africa, including.

Track 1: Powering Agribusiness/Agro-industry;

Track 2: Energizing Healthcare & Social Development  

Track 3: Clean Energy for Local Manufacturing

Track 4: Sustainable Energy for Solid Minerals Processing

Young professionals between the ages of 18 and 35 years from Africa are invited to participate in the competition across any of the four (4) innovation tracks above. Applications may be submitted by a team of at least three people. At least 1 member of the team must be from the local research institution or industry. Teams may be formed across different schools, institutions, companies, countries etc. Individuals or teams may submit multiple applications.

BENEFIT:

The finalists and winners will be selected by an independent panel of industry experts and experienced development professionals from public and private sector institutions.  It is anticipated that at least 1 winner per track will be awarded grant prizes with up to 20 shortlisted entries offered complimentary passes to fully participate in the 2024. Winners of the competition get the opportunity to:

Receive cash prize grants of up to USD10,000 to demonstrate or scale the proposed solution;

Pitch their proposed prototype model at the 2024 Nigeria Energy Forum, using a poster and short video;

Benefit from unique networking opportunities with other young professionals as well as some of the most senior decision-makers in government, international development, academia, and the private sector; &

Attend business development workshops, and receive support from a dedicated start-up incubator.

IRENA YOUTH LOGO CONTEST

IRENA is thrilled to announce the IRENA Youth Logo Contest (the “Contest”) as part of its commitment to engaging and empowering the new generation of energy leaders. This Contest aims to inspire young talents worldwide to showcase their creativity and passion for sustainable energy while fostering a strong connection between IRENA and the youth and urges them to share their visions on rejuvenating the present IRENA Youth Logo and its identity. We cordially invite all young minds to contribute their imaginative concepts for the rebranding of our current IRENA Youth Logo.

ELIGIBILITY:

The target audience for the IRENA Youth initiatives is young people aged 16-35 who are passionate about renewable energy and sustainability.

Participants must submit their logo designs in digital format as indicated under section 5.b via email to youth@irena.org by 1 July 2024 at 23:59 GST.

The email subject line must be: “IRENA Youth Logo Contest – [Your Name/Team Name]”.

Each participant may submit up to three unique logo designs in two versions in one email. Teams of up to two members can also participate in this Contest.

Please briefly describe the design concept and how it aligns with the IRENA Youth initiative and IRENA (PDF document, maximum 200 words).

BENEFIT:

The winning participant or team will receive an invitation to attend the 2025 IRENA Youth Forum to be held from 9 to 14 January 2025 in Abu Dhabi at the margins of the 15th session of the IRENA Assembly.

The winning logo will be launched at the 2025 IRENA Youth Forum.

The winner will be credited on IRENA’s official website and social media channels.

The winning logo will become the official emblem of the IRENA Youth initiative, featured on IRENA’s website, social media channels, and promotional materials.
