MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY (MSU) NNAMDI AZIKIWE INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN STUDENT FELLOWSHIP

The African Studies Center is pleased to announce the Nnamdi Azikiwe International African Student Fellowship! A fellowship of up to $2,000 to support international African students travel to Africa for research. The award honors former Nigerian President Nnamdi Azikiwe, a scholar and politician, who led Nigeria as its first civilian president and who invited MSU faculty to join him and other Nigerians to build a land-grant model university in Eastern Nigeria. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Only African undergraduate or graduate students conducting research in Africa are eligible for this fellowship.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in an MSU degree-granting program, and awardees must return to MSU as registered students in the semester following the award. 

Priority will be given to students in good academic standing and with demonstrated financial need. 

Applicants must successfully complete any MSU requirements related to doing research abroad (IRB training for instance) 

Fellowship recipients must write and submit a report (3 to 5 pages) to the African Studies Center within one month of their return from Africa. 

BENEFIT:

One or more fellowships of up to $ 2,000 will be awarded for travel and/or fieldwork expenses in Africa. Funds are meant to defray costs, applicants should specify all other funding sources.

IBM ACADEMIC AWARDS

The IBM Masters Fellowship Program advances this collaboration by recognizing and supporting exceptional Masters students who want to make their mark in promising and disruptive technologies, regardless of their field of study. Candidates may currently be enrolled in Masters programs in the sciences, arts, nursing, business, law among a few with focus areas in the following topics of particular interest:

Hybrid Cloud
Cybersecurity
Semiconductors
Artificial Intelligence

ELIGIBILITY:

The one-year IBM Masters Fellowships are awarded to students from historically Black colleges and universities in the United States.

Students must be nominated by a faculty member and must be a full-time student in a Masters program.

Students should have at least 6 months remaining in their graduate program at the time of nomination.

Award recipients will be selected based on their overall potential for excellence, the degree to which their interests align with those of IBM, and their academic progress to-date, as evidenced by endorsements from their faculty advisor and department head. 

BENEFIT:

$10,000 in a single award year
