UNHCR UNIVERSITY CORRIDORS FOR REFUGEES (UNICORE) PROJECT FOR AFRICAN STUDENTS

The project UNICORE 2024 offers refugee students the opportunity to attend a master’s degree programme at an Italian university. Call for application is open! The project University Corridors for Refugees UNICORE 6.0 is promoted by Italian universities with the support of UNHCR, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Caritas Italiana, Diaconia Valdese, Centro Astalli and other partners. It aims to increase opportunities for refugees currently residing in Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe to continue their higher education in Italy.

ELIGIBILITY:

Are residing in Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe and have been recognized refugee status in these countries in collaboration with UNHCR

Hold a qualification valid for admission to the chosen Second Cycle Degree Programme;

Have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 according to the country of graduation tertiary education grading system or equivalent according to the comparable table issued by the Italian Ministry of Education;

Hold a degree obtained in or after 2019 and no later than the call deadline (please note that  some universities do not apply a time limit for graduation, please refer to individual call for applications);

Meet the specific admission requirements of the Second cycle degree programme;

Have never before been enrolled in a degree program at any of the Partner Universities.

Proficiency in the English language is required.

It is possible to apply to a maximum of 2 universities.

BENEFIT:

The students will be selected to begin degree courses in September 2024, and will be exempt from tuition fees at the universities participating in the programme and will receive financial support for plane tickets and visa-related expenses, as well as a study grant to help them during their stay in Italy.

YOUTH4CLIMATE CALL FOR SOLUTIONS FUNDING

Y4C and its partners have launched the 2024 Call for Solutions! The Government of Italy and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with a range of knowledge partners and youth constituencies, have set out to identify, support and scale youth-led climate breakthroughs through the global Youth4Climate initiative.

ELIGIBILITY:

Structured as an innovation challenge, this second edition of the Y4C Call for Solutions aims to support the work of young people and youth-led organisations in five thematic areas: Climate and Environment Literacy, Sustainable Energy, Food and Agriculture, Nature Assets, Sustainable Consumption and Production. 

Young people are increasingly acknowledged as vital contributors to transformative climate action, playing roles such as negotiators, innovators, inventors, entrepreneurs, and agents of change. However, they face a significant shortfall in essential technical, financial, and political resources and support needed to fulfill their aspirations. 

Proposals, if successful, can be implemented over a maximum of 24 months. Proposals can be submitted in English, French or Spanish.

BENEFIT:

Successful applicants will be awarded:

Up to US$ 30,000 to implement or scale the proposed innovations. 

The possibility to access technical support to strengthen their capacity on specific topics. 

The support from a mentor to develop their proposal. 

Storytelling opportunities during next events of the Youth4Climate initiative and through the Youth4Climate Platform and Website of UNDP and its partners.
