CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP: SILK ROAD MASTER’S AND PHD PROGRAM

The Chinese Government Scholarship “Silk Road Program” is a sub-program of the Chinese Government Scholarship Program which aims to cultivate industry leaders and outstanding skilled personnel for the construction of the “Belt and Road” countries.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen from countries along “the Belt and Road” (Click to check), in good physical and mental health, with excellent subject background, professional competence and development potential.

Education and Age Requirements:

Applicants applying for a Master degree should hold a Bachelor diploma and be under the age of 35;

Applicants applying for a PhD degree should hold a Master diploma and be under the age of 40.

Language proficiency requirements:

The instruction language of the supported programs is English. Applicants whose native language is not English need to provide ①score report of English language proficiency test (a score above IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL Internet-based 80 or equivalent), or ②a certificate from former university that the previous degree is taught in English, or ③a certificate indicating the applicants have studied in an English-speaking country for more than one year.

Applicants must meet the minimum academic performance requirement, which is a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or a score of at least 80 out of 100.

Applicants should not be holding any other scholarships.

BENEFIT:

The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. Specific funding standards are subject to the information on CSC website (https://www.campuschina.org/).

GENEVA GRADUATE INSTITUTE GLOBAL CHALLENGE

Application Deadline: 30 April 2025 at 23:59 CET.

LOCATION: Switzerland

Eager to stimulate reflection and innovation on development issues from diverse disciplinary and contextual perspectives and with the generous support of Ambassador Jenö Staehelin, the Graduate Institute launched the Advancing Development Goals Contest, an international competition for Master students.

The idea is to gather contributions that are both theoretically grounded and offer pragmatic solutions to a relevant international development problem stemming from an interdisciplinary collaboration between three to five enrolled master students from anywhere in the world.

ELIGIBILITY:

Five prizes will be distributed; one in each of the following categories (based on the UN Statistics list):

Universities located in Africa

Universities located in Asia

Universities located in Europe

Universities located in North America and Oceania

Universities located in Latin America

The confirmation documents (enrolment certificates or student cards) should contain your name, your graduate programme and a recent issuance date.

In case you do not have these documents at the time of your registration, please send them via email to geneva.challenge@graduateinstitute.ch.

Following the registration, you have eleven weeks to prepare you proposal, which is due by the submission deadline.

Please make sure that you submit a proof of enrolment as a Master’s student for each team member (the document should contain your name, your graduate programme, and a recent issuance date) when you submit the form. However, you can also send the proof to geneva.challenge@graduateinstitute.ch before the deadline on 30 April 2025 at 23:59 CET.

Following the registration, you have eleven weeks to prepare your proposal, which is to be submitted as a PDF through a form, which will be made available upon registration. You will find more information on the format of the submission in the rules and regulations of the contest on the website.

BENEFIT:

The ADG contest distributes 25,000 CHF in monetary prizes. The winning project will be awarded CHF 10,000; the two teams in second place will receive CHF 5,000 each and the two teams in third place, CHF 2,500 each.
