GOOGLE SUMMER OF CODE PROGRAM

Google Summer of Code is a global, online program focused on bringing new contributors into open source software development. GSoC Contributors work with an open source organization on a 12+ week programming project under the guidance of mentors.

ELIGIBILITY:

Be eighteen (18) years of age or older upon registration for the Program;

Be enrolled in or accepted into an accredited institution, including a college, university, masters program, PhD program and/or undergraduate program, as of the Acceptance Date;

For the duration of the Program, be eligible to work in the country in which he or she resides; and

Not be an Organization Administrator or Mentor in the Program.

He or she is an employee (including intern), contractor, officer, or director of:

Google or its affiliates, or

an Organization or any of its affiliates.

He or she is an immediate family member (including a parent, sibling, child, spouse, or life partner regardless of where the Student lives) of one of the individuals listed in subsection (ii) above or a member of their household (whether related or not).

He or she has participated as a Student in Google Summer of Code two (2) or more times previously.

BENEFIT:

Accepted students spend the summer coding with guidance from a mentor (3 months).

Successful student contributors are given a $6000 USD stipend,  enabling the student concentrate on coding for 3 months

ROTARY PEACE FELLOWSHIPS

Each year, Rotary awards up to 130 fully funded fellowships for dedicated leaders from around the world to study at one of our peace centers. Through academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities, the Rotary Peace Centers program develops the capacity of peace and development professionals to become effective catalysts for peace.

ELIGIBILITY:

Eligible Master’s degree programs or Professional development certificate program

Master’s degree candidates must also:

Be proficient in English

Have a bachelor’s degree

Have a strong commitment to cross-cultural understanding and peace as shown through professional and academic achievements and personal or community service

Have the potential for leadership

Have at least three years of full-time relevant experience in peace or development work

Candidates must have a gap of at least three years between the completion of their most recent academic degree program (undergraduate or graduate degree) and their intended start date for the fellowship. Candidates currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program are not eligible to apply.

Rotary Peace Fellows who have completed the certificate program, or a Global Grant Scholarship, must wait three years between the end date of that program and their intended start date for the fellowship.
