DEVELOPING SOLUTIONS MASTERS SCHOLARSHIP AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM

Developing Solutions is their flagship master’s scholarship, founded in 2001, for students from African, South Asian, and other selected Commonwealth countries. This scholarship programme is designed for international students who want to make a difference to the development of key economic, environmental, structural, social, or political structures in their home country.

ELIGIBILITY:

To apply for this scholarship, you must:

Be domiciled in Africa, India or one of the selected Commonwealth countries listed below

Be classed as an overseas student for fee purposes

Hold an offer to start a full-time master’s (including MRes) course in September 2026 at the University of Nottingham, UK, studying in the Faculty of EngineeringFaculty of Medicine and Health SciencesFaculty of Science or Faculty of Social Sciences

Eligible countries: Africa (all nations), Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Brunei, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Falkland Islands, Fiji, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kiribati, Malaysia, Maldives, Montserrat, Nauru, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, St Helena, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tristan da Cunha, Turks and Caicos Islands, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

Where study has been undertaken in a country listed as an eligible Developing Solutions country, applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

You must apply for and receive an offer to study a full-time masters (including MRes) at the University of Nottingham for 2026/27 before applying for this scholarship. Search for courses and find out how to apply.

The University of Nottingham is offering scholarships covering 50% or 100% of full-time master’s tuition fees. These one-year scholarships are available to support innovative and passionate students who can successfully demonstrate their ingenuity for developing solutions that will impact their home countries and incite change.

RESEARCH TRAINING PROGRAM  SCHOLARSHIP (RTP)  / DEAKIN UNIVERSITY POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH  SCHOLARSHIP (DUPR) 

Application Deadline: 2027 international round: opens 6 July 2026, closes 23 August 2026 (February 2027 intake)

LOCATION:  Australia

RTP scholarships are funded by the Australian Government, while DUPR scholarships are funded by Deakin. Both are available to domestic and international candidates. Only top-ranked applicants will be offered an RTP.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for an RTP Stipend, RTP Fees Offset, RTP Allowance, or DUPRS, an applicant must be a domestic or international student enrolled in a graduate research course of study at Deakin University.

To be eligible for an RTP Fees Offset, an applicant must not be receiving an equivalent award or scholarship from the Commonwealth designed to offset graduate research fees.

To be eligible for an RTP or DUPRS stipend, an applicant must not be receiving income from another source to support that applicant’s general living costs while undertaking their course of study if that income is greater than 75 percent of that applicant’s RTP or DUPRS stipend rate. Income unrelated to the applicant’s course of study or income received for the applicant’s course of study but not for the purposes of supporting general living costs is not to be taken into account.

RTP and DUPRS stipends will be awarded to candidates as the result of a competitive process outlined in the ranking guidelines below. Candidates receiving an RTP or DUPRS stipend will be enrolled as on-campus full-time students.

Applicants for an RTP or DUPRS Stipend must have:

Completed at least four years of tertiary education studies

Achieved 80% or equivalent in the research component of their previous study or an equivalent level of academic attainment, taking into account previous study, relevant work experience, research publications and other research experience

Met all other minimum entry requirements according to the Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Admission, Selection, and Enrolment Procedure

A stipend of $37,450 per annum tax exempt

A relocation allowance from $500 to $1,500 (for single to family) is awarded to candidates who are moving from interstate or overseas in order to study at Deakin.

For international candidates only:

Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy for the duration of the student visa.

Duration:

Doctoral degree: three years for stipend and four years for the tuition fees offset.

Research master’s degree: two years for stipend and two years for the tuition fees offset.
