UNIVERSITY OF SHEFFIELD SANCTUARY SCHOLARSHIPS

The University of Sheffield offers Sanctuary Scholarships for those who have sought asylum in the UK, for example, students who have been displaced or affected by a conflict in their home country or have another reason for their forced migration to the UK.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for the scholarship, you are required to meet the criteria below:

You have been granted humanitarian protection or limited leave to remain in the UK; or be a dependant or partner of someone with humanitarian protection or limited leave to remain; or you or your parent/guardian or partner are an asylum seeker and have submitted a claim within the UK for refugee status and have not yet received a decision from the Home Office on that application.

You have applied for asylum on arrival in the UK, and before that you applied for a place at university.

You currently attend a school, college, or community/voluntary group that will provide a reference in support of your application.

You hold an offer from the University of Sheffield to study an undergraduate or postgraduate taught course starting in September 2026. Students who require a foundation or conversion course as part of their offer to study at the university should contact us to discuss their eligibility.   

You do not hold a qualification equal to or higher than the one you are applying for. Contact the Student Fees and Funding team if you have withdrawn from a previous course.

You are ineligible for other university scholarships, for example, Access to Sheffield Scholarships or a university bursary for undergraduate studies.

You are not eligible to receive support from a UK funding agency, for example, Student Finance England.

BENEFIT:

The five fully funded Sanctuary Scholarships for 2026 entry cover the cost of tuition and provide a £10,300 award to support living costs for each year of study.

UEA VICE CHANCELLOR’S GLOBAL IMPACT AND LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP (SEPTEMBER START)

The Vice Chancellor’s Global Impact and Leadership Scholarship is an application-based scholarship open to Overseas fee status applicants who have been offered a place to study on a postgraduate taught course with UEA. It is designed to reward those who can clearly and concisely explain how studying here at UEA will help them to make an outstanding contribution to their chosen field of study and become a global leader.

ELIGIBILITY:

Country / Region: International, Asia, Africa, South America, Middle East, North America, Australia, EU, and Europe

Type of Course: Postgraduate Taught

Course Start Date: September 2026

Applications to the 2026 Vice Chancellor’s Global Impact and Leadership Scholarship are to be submitted in written format. They would like you to answer the following three questions.

Why did you select UEA and apply for your chosen course?

How will your chosen course equip you to achieve your future career and leadership ambitions?

How will the knowledge and skills you will gain from your course equip you to become a global leader?

Each answer should be limited to 200 words.

When applying for this scholarship, you must already be in possession of a conditional or unconditional offer for an eligible postgraduate taught course starting at UEA in September 2026. You should have achieved or be expecting to achieve at least a 2:1, or equivalent, in your undergraduate degree to be eligible. Your offer letter should state that you are an Overseas fee-paying  student.

The deadline for application is 23:59 (BST) on 26 June 2026.

This scholarship cannot be held in addition to any other UEA scholarship except for the International Early Payment Award. If you are eligible for another UEA scholarship of higher value, this will automatically replace this scholarship. Students receiving sponsorship covering full fees by an outside body or government organisation are not eligible for this scholarship. Government or educational loans that require repayment do not affect eligibility.

BENEFIT:

Applications of a high quality will be offered £10,000 as a tuition fee discount. Successful applicants will be informed shortly after each panel. Where your programme of study is two years in length, the scholarship will be offered for the first year only.
