HYUNDAI MOTOR GROUP SCHOLARSHIP AT SOAS UNIVERSITY OF LONDON.

Hyundai Motor Group is offering five scholarships intended to nurture talent from Africa at SOAS University of London. These scholarships aim to cultivate experts for sustainable development in Africa and will continue to establish long-term collaboration models for the next generation of Africa.

ELIGIBILITY:

This scholarship is open to African nationals who are ordinarily resident in Africa.

This scholarship is open to international fee-paying applicants only.

New admissions only (programmes starting in 2026/27).

Applicants for the MA scholarship must possess or expect to be awarded an international equivalent to a first-class honours degree from a UK university. Applicants with a non-UK degree must be in the top rank as evidenced by references and transcripts. Applicants with a 2:1 may also apply but will not be given preference.

Applicants for the MPhil/PhD scholarship must possess or expect to be awarded an international equivalent to a master’s degree with distinction from a UK university. Applicants with a non-UK master’s degree must be in the top rank as evidenced by references and transcripts. Applicants with merit may also apply but will not be given preference.

Scholarship applicants must have applied to SOAS but are not required to have received an offer of admission by the scholarship deadline. An unconditional offer will need to have been received by the time the selection panel meets to discuss scholarship applications.

Applicants must meet the English language condition of their offer of admission to study at SOAS, if applicable. If your offer is conditional on English, please arrange your English test and ensure you meet the English requirements as soon as possible.

Please note that this scholarship does not cover funding for pre-sessional courses.

Master’s award: £27,730.

PhD award: tuition fees and stipend of up to £22,780

2026 PTDF OVERSEAS POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR UNIVERSITIES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, GERMANY, FRANCE, AND MALAYSIA

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), a Federal Government agency responsible for developing indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, invites applications for its 2026 Overseas MSc and PhD Scholarships.

This scheme offers opportunities to study specific programmes at selected partner universities abroad, providing access to world-class training, research facilities, and global expertise.

ELIGIBILITY:

Strategic Partnerships: For the 2026 award, applications will be restricted to PTDF partner universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia, where the Fund is satisfied that scholarship standards will be sustained and the Scheme’s objectives will be best achieved.

UK PhD to be Conducted as Split-Site at CPESK: With the establishment of the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK), PTDF continues to advance its strategic objective of strengthening local capacity and domesticating key aspects of its human capital development programmes in alignment with national priorities.

CPESK is being positioned as a center for world-class postgraduate education, high-impact research, and strong industry–academia partnerships.

Accordingly, for the 2026 academic year, PhD scholarships in the United Kingdom will once again be limited to split-site programmes only, under which successful candidates will undertake research by splitting residency between CPESK and designated UK partner universities:

MSc applicants must:

Possess a minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in the first degree, or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience

Have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)

Be computer literate

Possess five (5) O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics

Submit a Statement of Purpose (maximum 500 words) stating:

rationale for the proposed study;

relevance to the oil and gas industry; and

expected contribution to national development

Have a National Identity Number (NIN) and ensure it is fully verified prior to application (NIMC verification charges apply)

PhD applicants must:

Have completed the mandatory NYSC

Be computer literate

Possess five (5) O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics

Possess at least Second Class Lower (2.2) in the first degree and a good postgraduate degree

Submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (maximum five (5) pages) covering:

Topic:

Introduction/background;

Objectives:

Methodology; and

Data collection approach

Have a NIN and ensure it is verified prior to application (NIMC verification charges apply)

In addition, all lecturers must also submit a letter from their Vice-Chancellors confirming that they are not currently benefiting from any other scholarship.
