UNIVERSITY OF NEW BRUNSWICK (UNB) PHD/MSC POSITIONS IN AI & OPTIMIZATION & COMMUNICATIONS 

LOCATION: Canada

Dr. Jie Chen is seeking two highly motivated students to pursue PhD or MSc studies in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in Canada.

ELIGIBILITY:

5G/6G Communication Technologies – Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), wireless power transfer, energy harvesting, millimeter-wave communications, RFID, MIMO, OFDM, and OTFS – Channel estimation, signal detection, beamforming design, multiple access techniques, and wireless resource management. 

Artificial Intelligence for Wireless Networks – Generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and foundation models for communication systems – Distributed learning, optimization, and autonomous operation for wireless networks

Requirements:

Background in Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields. 

Strong undergraduate record with a minimum GPA of 3.3. 

PhD applicants must hold a master’s degree with an excellent academic record; prior publications are preferred.

HOKKAIDO UNIVERSITY MEXT SCHOLARSHIP SPECIAL QUOTA INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE PROGRAM (OCTOBER 2027)

The special international graduate program (IGP) : Life Science Researcher Training Program for Solving Global Issues is financially supported by the Japanese Government, MEXT. This program aims to train the international research pioneers in life sciences with hopes for a fruitful future in their home country. It provides scholarship to outstanding international students from any country to undertake a PhD or master course study at Graduate School of Life Science, Hokkaido University

ELIGIBILITY:

All countries with diplomatic relations with Japan.

Academic Field: Laboratories in the IGP programme (students must select a lab and supervisor aligned with their research interests).

Eligible programme: Postgraduate Scholarship

Applicants must:

Contact prospective supervisors and obtain permission to enroll in a laboratory.

Submit required documents via supervisor to the IGP office.

Be physically and mentally healthy.

Meet academic qualifications (Master’s or Doctoral admission requirements).

Provide proof of English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS or equivalent).

Recommendation letter (Dean or higher).

Obtain supervisor approval (Laboratory Screening).

Submit documents to supervisor.

Supervisor forwards documents to IGP office by 10 December 2026.

Await screening results and the final recommendation to MEXT.
