EPFL MASTER EXCELLENCE FELLOWSHIPS (ROUND 2)

LOCATION: Switzerland

In order to reward the most outstanding students who are beginning their master’s studies, EPFL offers a limited number of excellence fellowships, along with guaranteed housing, to candidates who have achieved remarkable academic results and who distinguish themselves in extracurricular activities, whether sporting, artistic, civic, or entrepreneurial.

ELIGIBILITY:

Anyone applying to a master’s program at EPFL is eligible. A limited number of fellowships are awarded to the most deserving candidates, based on academic excellence, qualifications, and motivation.

However, candidates who already hold a master’s degree or are currently enrolled in a master’s program at EPFL are not eligible.

Applications should be submitted via EPFL’s online Master application. Be sure to check the box indicating that your profile should also be considered for an excellence fellowship.

Documents to provide:

No additional documents are needed beyond those required for admission.

The application deadlines align with those for the master’s program. There are two application rounds. 

Deadlines:  2nd round: March 31

The renewal and payment of the fellowship for a second year of studies is conditional upon excellent academic performance.

At the end of the first year, once the results are published, fellowships are renewed provided that fellowship holders have:

Reached at least the average of 5.0 (6 = max / 4 = pass).

The average is weighted with the ECTS credits of each course. All numerical grades from all chosen courses and exams during the first MA year count for the average.

Earned at least 50 credits (for branches other than the internship)

Credits for language courses, admission courses, or courses outside of the study plan do not count.

There will be no exceptions for students who have not reached the requested average or number of credits.

BENEFIT:

Amount: CHF 10,000 per semester, with a maximum coverage of 4 semesters.

Additional Benefits:

Reservation of a student room in a student residence (for external candidates only).

A certificate of excellence upon completion of the Master’s program.

STUDY IN CANADA SCHOLARSHIPS

LOCATION: Canada

The Study in Canada Scholarships (SICS) offer Canadian post-secondary institutions the opportunity to host international students from a diverse range of countries and territories for short-term study or research exchanges. Funded by Global Affairs Canada through the Academic Relations program, SICS aims to strengthen and diversify Canada’s international linkages and partnerships.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Study in Canada Scholarships (SICS) will be administered under an adjusted delivery model in which Canadian institutions are responsible for the selection of students.

Key changes to the application process include:

Selection at the program level will be based on the institution’s submission of a Management and Accountability Framework (MAF).

The Privacy Notice Statement (PNS) will be the only supporting document required to be submitted by the institution on behalf of the student through the My EduCanada Portal

To be eligible, applicants must:

Be a Designated Learning Institution  (DLI);

Waive tuition fees for scholarship recipients.

A scholarship project consists of one or more individual scholarships that support short-term inbound mobility to a Canadian post-secondary institution. A project commences upon the signing of a contribution agreement with Global Affairs Canada and must be completed no later than September 30th, 2027.  The total funding from GAC will not exceed $150,000 per project.

Scholarships may only be awarded to individuals who are:

Citizens of the following eligible countries/ territories:

Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan;

Europe: Türkiye, Ukraine;

Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia;

Sub-Saharan Africa: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda.

Enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution in an eligible country/territory;

Paying tuition fees to that institution at the time of application and for the full duration of their mobility in Canada.

Able to complete all project activities no later than September 30, 2027.

The application process consists of:

submitting one or more individual scholarship nominations through the My EduCanada portal; and

sending the following document by email to Scholarships-Info-Bourses@international.gc.ca by the application deadline:

Management and Accountability Framework outlining the measures and procedures the applicant will implement to ensure a fair and transparent selection process for scholarship recipients. For more information on the Management and Accountability Framework see the “Project selection criteria” section below.

BENEFIT:

Scholarship value and duration must be as follows:

$10,200 for 4 months or one academic term for study or research at the college of undergraduate level

$10,200 for 4 months or one academic term for study or research at the graduate level (Masters and PhD)

$14,000 for 5 to 6 months for study or research at the graduate level (Masters and PhD)

Failure to comply with the project parameters may affect funding.

$500 per implemented scholarship (i.e. where mobility occurs) to cover administrative costs of the Canadian institution, including an employer compliance fee paid to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), if applicable.
