SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP

An undergraduate scholarship to support exceptional international students from diverse priority markets study across diverse undergraduate courses at the University of Sydney.

must enrol in their eligible degree full-time

not be commencing a second degree at the University of Sydney

be an international student as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003. Australian Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents and dual citizens with Australian nationality are not eligible

must have completed secondary school or a foundation program in Australia or from a University of Sydney recognised foundation partner

must not have previously undertaken any tertiary studies (excluding extension studies completed as part of a year 12 program).

BENEFIT:

The scholarship will provide the below benefits for the published full-time duration of the recipient’s single undergraduate degree (including embedded honours) up to a maximum total duration of 4 years full-time study.

100% tuition fees, and

Student Services Amenities Fee.

No other amount is payable. Recipients are responsible for all other costs for studying at the University of Sydney including but not limited to, Overseas Health Cover (OSHC), living costs, accommodation, textbooks, flights and costs associated with being under the age of 18.

The Rhodes Scholarship is a life-changing opportunity to join outstanding young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford. Applications for the next round of Rhodes Scholarships open in June 2024.

ELIGIBILITY:

Nationality/citizenship: You may only apply to the Global Scholarships if you are not eligible to apply via any existing Rhodes constituency. If you have a strong connection to one or more Rhodes constituency but do not meet their eligibility criteria you should also consider interjurisdictional consideration rather than the Global Scholarship.

Age: You must meet either of the below criteria: i. You must be aged 18-23 on 1st October 2024 (i.e. you must have been born after 1 October 2000 and before 2 October 2006). OR (for older candidates who completed their first undergraduate degree later than usual) ii. You must be under the age of 27 on 1st October 2024 (i.e. have been born after 1 October 1997) AND you must also have completed your first undergraduate degree on or after 1 October 2023*. * A university’s policy determines the date of completion of academic requirement for a degree and this may be different from when a degree is considered awarded by the university or the date of a graduation ceremony. In ambiguous cases, the decision of the National Secretary is final.

Academic achievement: You must have completed an undergraduate degree (usually a Bachelor’s) by July 2025, and you must have an academic background and grade that – at a minimum – meets or exceeds the specific entry requirements of your chosen course at the University of Oxford. Candidates will have a higher chance of successful admission to Oxford if they have: o A First-Class Honours Degree or equivalent, or, o A GPA of 3.70/4.0 or higher* *Once you have noted the entry requirements for your chosen course(s), you can check international grade equivalencies here.

English Language: You must meet the University of Oxford’s English language requirements. This means that unless you qualify for a test waiver, you must provide English test results with scores that meet the University’s higher-level requirement. Please check the University of Oxford’s webpage to see which tests are accepted, the scores required, and the full conditions for a language test waiver.

BENEFIT:

The Rhodes Scholarship covers Oxford University course fees, as well as providing an annual stipend. The stipend is £19,092 per annum (£1,591 per month) from which Scholars pay all living expenses, including accommodation. Please note – this is not sufficient to cover partners or dependents.
