KING’S COLLEGE LONDON NHSE-FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONALLY QUALIFIED SONOGRAPHERS.

Scholarships are available for course entry in 2025-26 and 2026-27. Up to 20 scholarships are available for 2025—26.

As a result of this scholarship funding, King’s will provide example case studies and portfolios to support a standardised process and educational pathway for internationally qualified Sonographers to gain a CASE accredited award and Level 7 recognition in the UK. 

Internationally qualified sonographers will undertake academic ultrasound training through King’s College London towards a Pg Cert in Clinical ultrasound allowing registration with the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) in the UK. 

ELIGIBILITY:

These scholarships are open to:

Internationally Qualified Sonographers recruited by NHSE as part of their Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) International Sonographer recruitment strategies – this is part of a larger government relocation, training, and renumeration initiative.

Internationally qualified sonographers (any country) who are already working in the UK National Health Service (NHS) as non-obstetric sonographers.

King’s standard eligibility criteria also apply. Please see the Clinical Ultrasound webpage for full details. 

Candidates must be internationally qualified sonographers who have secured a clinical placement within the NHS from Sept 2025 (minimum 14 hours per week).

All applications are made through King’s Apply. Note that there is no separate scholarship application process. An £85 non-refundable application fee is required at the application stage. Scholarship applications in King’s Apply should be accompanied by the following documents:

A Personal Statement in the form of your Portfolio Introduction (limited to 4000 characters/1000 words). This outlines your existing skills and experience relevant to ultrasound, highlighting any gaps. For further guidance, please see Appendix A.

 Completed UK Standards of proficiency skills gap analysis self-assessment form (Appendix A).

 Evidence of prior qualifications and experience, including relevant certificates, transcripts and overseas registration (including registration number). 

 An up-to-date resume/CV.

 Two references. One reference should be a headed letter of support from your current NHS employer or placement provider. 

 Employer’s Letter of Support (Appendix B). 

 Memorandum of agreement from placement (Appendix C).

 Evidence of meeting King’s English Language requirements (if required). For English Language Requirements, please visit our course page.

 Evidence of the right to work or study in the UK (if required).

Please select PGCert Clinical Ultrasound in the application and under ‘Funding’ please tick box number 5 and enter funding code ‘US2025’. 

BENEFIT:

The following part-time Clinical Ultrasound tuition fees will be fully funded for successful candidates: 

Home fee status: £5,650 (Pg Cert 2025/26)

Overseas (international) fee status: £11,933 (Pg Cert 2025/26)
