UCD SCHOOL OF COMPUTER SCIENCE PHD SCHOLARSHIP 2026

The PhD programme offered by the School of Computer Science in UCD is designed to develop your talent and knowledge while you work on a research project under the supervision of academic experts in the field. The programme combines learning, teaching, and research activities to equip you with the right skills to enhance your career prospects in both academia and industry.

ELIGIBILITY:

The minimum requirements to apply are:

A 2.1 grade (or equivalent) in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Science, or a similar technical discipline.

Programming ability.

English test for non-native English speakers, or proof that you carried out your studies through the medium of English within the last two years

BENEFIT:

The duration of the scholarship is 4 years and includes an annual tax-free stipend of €25,000, research travel expenses of €3,000 to carry out the project, a new laptop, and academic fees.  In addition, all doctoral candidates will do some demonstration and/or teaching assistant hours in the school as part of their career development.

The PhD programme starts in September 2026 if you are offered a scholarship.

ABERTAY UNIVERSITY DEAN’S SCHOLARSHIP

LOCATION: United Kingdom

This is an award of up to £5,000 per year for up to a maximum of four years for prospective new international undergraduate and postgraduate students from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Successful recipients will have the award deducted from their tuition fees. 

This scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the University in recognition of an applicant’s achievements (academic and/or extracurricular) and their potential contribution to student life and the University community.

ELIGIBILITY:

 To be eligible, you must:

Be classified as an international (overseas) fee-paying student by Abertay University.

Hold an offer to study for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree, on campus, at Abertay in the 2026/27 or 2027/28 academic year. 

Have met all academic conditions attached to your offer of admission for entry to the University as a new full-time student. 

The award will contribute to each year of degree, up to a maximum of four years, while you are studying in Dundee. 

Students who are admitted with Advanced Entry into Year 2 or above of an undergraduate programme, and who meet the above conditions, will also be eligible for this award. 

No separate application form is required, and you will be assessed for the scholarship based on your application for study and your personal statement. If you meet all the eligibility criteria and are awarded the Dean’s Scholarship, you will be notified by us by email following your offer of study.
