UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO MASTERCARD FOUNDATION SCHOLARS

They are pleased to announce the start of the 2024-2025 Mastercard Foundation graduate scholarship recruitment at the University of Toronto.

ELIGIBILITY:

Be a citizen and currently residing in a Sub-Saharan African country

Be graduating or have graduated within the last 5 years from a partner institution of the African Higher Education Health Collaborative and have not yet started studies at the graduate level

Have demonstrated academic excellence and leadership qualities during his/her undergraduate years

Be academically admissible to one of the sponsored graduate programs listed above

Demonstrate a desire and commitment to return home following graduation to contribute to the ongoing economic growth and social development in Africa

BENEFIT:

Scholars in the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at U of T are provided with full financial assistance for tuition, travel expenses to Canada (including obtaining a passport, visa application fees), housing, course materials, health insurance, laptop, food, books, and other expenses for the duration of their graduate degrees.

P.E.O. INTERNATIONAL PEACE SCHOLARSHIP (IPS)

The International Peace Scholarship Fund was established in 1949 to provide scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the U.S. or Canada. 

ELIGIBILITY:

The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to women from outside the United States and Canada who are seeking advanced degrees from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Canada with the expectation that students will return to their home countries to utilize their education to make a positive impact and foster global peace.  

In order to qualify for her first scholarship, an applicant must have a full year of coursework remaining, be enrolled and in residence for the entire school year.

Doctoral students who have completed coursework and are working only on dissertations are not eligible as first-time applicants.

International students attending Cottey College are eligible to apply for a scholarship. 

A student who is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada is not eligible. Note: A student with residency for tax purposes only is permitted.

Scholarships are not given for online courses, research, internships or for practical training if not combined with coursework.

BENEFIT:

The maximum amount awarded to a student is $12,500.
