VISA EVERYWHERE INITIATIVE GLOBAL COMPETITION, SAN FRANCISCO, USA

Application Deadline for CAMEA (Sub Region 4): May 6, 2024

Visa Everywhere Initiative is an open innovation program that helps startups like yours unlock new opportunities — and can give you a global platform to demonstrate your ground-breaking solutions. The 2024 global competition is going to be more exciting than ever before — with an amazing opportunity for selected finalists to get in front of Visa’s executives, potential clients, and investors. One fintech per region will be selected to compete in the global finals at the TechCrunch Disrupt event.

ELIGIBILITY:

The first step to be part of the Visa Everywhere Initiative 2024 is to complete and submit the application. Visa will select one global finalist per each region that will move forward to the global finals event in San Francisco, California.

CEMEA [Central Europe, Middle East, Africa] – This region will run additional competitions.

Each Participant must be an owner or employee of the Company acting in the exercise of his/her/their commercial or independent professional activity and must be a legal resident of an Eligible Market in his/her/their Region, as defined in Addendum A. Participant must also be at least eighteen (18) years old (or at least the age of majority in their jurisdiction
of residence, whichever is older) at the time of registration. In addition, employees, officers, and directors of Visa, its affiliates, or its designee(s) may register but are not eligible to participate in any of the virtual or in-person competitions and any awards for the Initiative as detailed herein

Participants must complete and submit an online registration during the Overall Submission Period detailing how the Participant and the Participant’s product(s) and service(s) can create cutting-edge solutions. Visa products (the “Submission”). Submissions received after the Participant deadlines listed below (“Participant Deadlines”) will be considered for future opportunities, but will not be eligible to participate in any of the virtual or in-person events and any awards applicable to the Participant’s region, as defined in Addendum A (each a “Region”), as detailed herein.

BENEFIT:

Two monetary prizes will be awarded during the global finals event celebrated on October 28th  at the TechCrunch Disrupt event in San Francisco.

Overall Winner: $100,000 USD

Audience Favorite: $20,000 USD (The overall winner is also eligible to win the Audience Favorite prize)

Global finalists will also be hosted by Visa at the TechCrunch Disrupt Pavilion to exhibit together their companies in the Expo Hall with the following benefits:

(1) standing demo table or kiosk in the Expo Hall all 3 days

TECH GIRLS PROGRAM, USA

The 2024 Tech Girls application is open.

TechGirls is a U.S.-based summer exchange program designed to empower and support young women (ages 15-17) from the United States and select countries around the world to pursue higher education and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields through hands-on skills development training.

ELIGIBILITY:

Students eligible to apply are those who:

Are citizens of one of the eligible countries/territories AND living in that country/territory at time of exchange:

Sub-Saharan Africa (AF) – Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Zambia

East Asia and Pacific (EAP) – Cambodia, Fiji, Indonesia, Mongolia, Taiwan, and Vietnam

Europe and Eurasia (EUR) – Albania, Cyprus, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Türkiye

Middle East and North Africa (NEA) – Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, and Tunisia

South and Central Asia (SCA) – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan

Western Hemisphere (WHA) – Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Suriname

United States of America

Are between the ages of 15 and 17 at the start of the exchange on July 13, 2024

Born on or between July 13, 2006 and July 13, 2009;

Have demonstrated advanced skills and a serious interest in science, technology, engineering, and/or math in their academic studies;

Intend to pursue higher education and/or careers in STEM, especially technology;

Have strong English language skills (advanced intermediate English skills);

Exhibit maturity, flexibility, and open-mindedness;

Will attend at least one additional semester of secondary school upon their return to their home country;

Are committed to completing a community-based project upon their return home; and

Meet U.S. J-1 visa eligibility requirements (for instance, U.S. citizens are not eligible for a J-1 visa).

Eligible candidates must be citizens and current residents of participating countries. Third-country nationals permanently living in an eligible country should contact us to determine eligibility prior to applying.

Preference will be given to those who have limited or no prior experience in the United States. You are not eligible if you have travelled to the United States in the last three years as part of any other ECA exchange program.

Please note that family members of U.S. Embassy or Consulate staff. U.S. Department of State employees, family members of the administering organization or partner organizations are not eligible to apply.

BENEFIT:

The TechGirls program covers the following costs:

Roundtrip international airfare from participant home country to the United States

Roundtrip domestic airfare from participant home city (as applicable)
