TWAS-ICCBS POSTGRADUATE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

LOCATION: Pakistan

The International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) — comprising the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr. Panjwani Centre for Molecular and Drug Research in Karachi, Pakistan — and TWAS offer fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to pursue research towards a PhD in chemical and biological sciences.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants for these fellowships must meet the following criteria:

Be a maximum age of 35 years on 31 December of the application year.

hold a Master’s degree in a field of natural sciences;

Be nationals of a developing country (other than Pakistan);

must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Pakistan or any developed country;

provide a certificate of good health from a qualified medical doctor;

Be registered PhD students in their home country and provide the “Registration and No Objection Certificate” from the HOME university (see sample that can be downloaded below or included in the online application form);

Provide an official Preliminary Acceptance Letter from ICCBS (see the sample preliminary acceptance letter that can be downloaded below or included in the online application form). Requests for acceptance must be directed to the Director of ICCBS (Prof. Dr. Raza Shah at raza.shah@iccs.edu or protocol.iccbs@iccs.edu) who will facilitate assignment of a host supervisor. In contacting Prof. Dr. Raza Shah, applicants must accompany their request for a preliminary acceptance letter with copy of their CV and a research proposal outline and two reference letters;

Provide evidence of proficiency in English, if medium of education was not English. Candidates are encouraged to refer to the following resources to test their level of English:

provide evidence that s/he will return to her/his home country on completion of the fellowship;

not take up other assignments during the period of her/his fellowship;

Be financially responsible for any accompanying family members.

The language of instruction is English.

BENEFIT:

ICCBS will provide a monthly stipend, which should be used to cover living costs, such as food, accommodation, local transportation, and incidental minor illness. The monthly stipend will not be convertible into foreign currency.

INTERNET SOCIETY PEERING FELLOWSHIP

LOCATION: Multiple Regions

The Peering Fellowship supports individuals making Internet access affordable, reliable, and resilient by improving local Internet interconnection infrastructure and advocating for an enabling policy environment that supports a thriving Internet ecosystem. 

ELIGIBILITY:

This engaging six-month program is designed to equip 15 peering and interconnection professionals with skills, knowledge, and tools to address interconnection and peering challenges while maximizing opportunities that grow the Internet and develop the community at peering events. This fellowship is one of the ways that the Internet Society is supporting affordable and reliable access efforts. 

Applicants should be individuals actively engaged in Internet policy, business, and/or technical development related to peering and transit. Interested individuals must complete an online application form.

Candidates who meet the following are welcome to apply:

Based or living in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), Africa, or the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.*

Have a passport valid until June 2026 to be able to travel to the events.

Africa, valid until February 2026

Are able to attend sessions and travel to one of these events:

AfPIF, 19-21 August 2025

LACNOG, 6-10 October 2025

Peering Asia, 4-6 November 2025

Have at least 3 years of experience in the Internet industry.

Availability to fully participate in the six-month experience.

Be available for virtual meetings between 11:00-15:00 UTC.

Have reliable access to broadband Internet connection and relevant devices.

Have a working proficiency level in verbal and written English. (This fellowship will be delivered in English).

Be able to fully participate in the six-month experience which requires a commitment of approximately four hours a week.

Participants from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States are encouraged to apply.

BENEFIT:

Travel support for one peering event:

A round-trip air ticket to one peering event.

Hotel accommodation for the duration of the event.

A fixed stipend for additional needs.

Please note that the Internet Society does not offer financial support for visa-related costs, and travel arrangements are specifically fixed for the calendarized workshop dates only.
