SKOLL MBA SCHOLARSHIPS AT OXFORD SAÏD

The Skoll Scholarship provides funding for social innovators who are interested in undertaking an MBA to enhance and broaden their skills for more effective social change.

ELIGIBILITY:

Entrepreneurial action:

Proven track record of driving change through entrepreneurial approaches. 

Examples include starting or growing a social venture, leading the expansion of a social impact initiative, or addressing a specific social/environmental issue. 

Creating impact with a focus on systems change:

Visible results and significant impact through entrepreneurial efforts. 

Challenging and improving inequitable systems and practices within the candidate’s field. 

Personal qualities of a social innovator:

Persistence and a willingness to take risks and learn from failure.

Bias toward action and exploring environments for opportunities. 

Development of networks and collaboration to pursue mutual goals.

Lived experience or a deep understanding of the problems they address. 

Oxford MBA critical to career trajectory:

Clear articulation of how an MBA will contribute to the candidate’s professional growth and ability to create social impact. 

Financial need:

Demonstrated financial burden in affording the programme.

Ability to articulate the need for the scholarship based on past work experiences or personal circumstances.

The scholarship aims to create a collaborative environment that values diverse perspectives, fostering a global mindset necessary for addressing complex societal challenges. As such, the Skoll Scholarship emphasizes the importance of diversity and inclusion within its community. All candidates, especially women, individuals from historically underrepresented groups, and those from the Global South, are encouraged to apply. 

You must submit a complete MBA application and the Skoll Scholarship essay document by the deadline. The essay document can be found in the ‘Funding’ section of the MBA application form. 

Scholarships are awarded to candidates with a strong track record in social entrepreneurship and who intend to continue creating positive social impact after their studies. Read the full eligibility criteria on the Skoll website.

BENEFIT:

The scholarship covers full MBA course fees and provides partial living expenses.

ROYAL GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY RAN AND GINNY FIENNES AWARD

The Ran and Ginny Fiennes Award supports humanitarian, scientific or educational projects that follow in the Transglobe Expedition’s tradition of challenge and perseverance. The Ran and Ginny Fiennes Award is designed to support the next generation of emerging travelers and expeditioners, reflecting the spirit, dedication and inspirational values of the Transglobe Expedition.

ELIGIBILITY:

All prospective grant applicants are encouraged to read our guidance for Society grants, which includes more information about the grants programme, its conditions, how to apply and what is expected if your application is successful.

Applicants may be from anywhere in the world.

Please note, for applications to the Ran and Ginny Fiennes Award, applicants should arrange for two reference letters to be sent directly to grants@rgs.org

Applicants should also submit a full risk assessment, emergency response plan and ethics assessment alongside their application.

In very exceptional cases where a strong proposal is put forward that answers a very near-term need in response to an immediate event or opportunity, applications will be accepted and reviewed outside of the annual awarding cycle.

BENEFIT:

Grants are historically given for between £2,000 and £5,000, with applications for smaller amounts, as well as larger bids under exceptional circumstances, welcomed.
