2026/27 PTDF IN-COUNTRY SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME (ISS) FOR UNDERGRADUATE AND POSTGRADUATE AWARDS

LOCATION: Nigeria

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a federal government agency with the mandate of developing indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry. The Fund hereby invites applications from interested and qualified Nigerians to apply for the 2026/27 Undergraduate, Master’s and PhD scholarships in Nigerian public universities only.

ELIGIBILITY:

ISS Undergraduate:

Applicants must be full-time students in any of the public universities.

Applicants must be presently in the 200 level in their field of study.

The course of study should be related to the oil and gas industry and management, as advertised.

Applicants must possess 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO, including English Language and Mathematics.

Applicants must possess a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.4 on a scale of 5.0 (i.e., Second Class Lower).

Applicants should provide their transcripts for the first year of study (transcripts must be signed and stamped by the HOD, Exams Officer, or any authorized personnel in the university).

Undergraduate applicants who meet the above requirements are to upload the following documents:

Evidence of WAEC/SSCE/NECO results with at least 5 credits, including English Language and Mathematics (not more than 2 sittings, and the first sitting result must be uploaded).

Letter of admission into the university.

First-year academic transcript(s), duly signed and stamped by the HOD, Exams Officer, or any authorized personnel.

Certificate of indigeneship (evidence of state of origin and local government).

A personal statement of a minimum of 300 words stating reasons for undertaking the course of study.

ISS MSc (Requirements for Application):

Applicants must possess a full-time admission letter into any of the Public Universities.

A minimum of Second-Class Lower (2:2) in an oil and gas-related field.

The course of study should be related to the oil and gas/management industry.

Applicants must possess at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results (not more than 2 sittings, and the two results must precede the first degree).

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate or letter of exemption.

Certificate of indigeneship (evidence of state of origin and local government).

A personal statement of a minimum of 1,000 words stating reasons for undertaking the course of study.

PhD ISS (Requirements for Application):

Applicants must possess a full-time admission letter into any of the Public Universities.

A minimum of Second Class Lower (2:2) in an oil and gas/management-related field.

A minimum of merit in a second-degree certificate in an oil-and-gas-related discipline.

Applicants must possess at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results (not more than 2 sittings, and the two results must precede the first degree).

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate or letter of exemption.

Certificate of indigeneship (evidence of state of origin and local government).

The research area must be relevant to the oil and gas industry.

A PhD research proposal of not more than 6 pages. The proposal template can be accessed via the applicant’s profile on the PTDF Scholarship Management Portal.

    UNIVERSITY OF ABERDEEN CB DAVIDSON FUND

    Application Deadline: Available until further notice, but note that the closing dates are 31 March and 30 September each year.

    LOCATION: Scotland

    The CB Davidson fund provides limited financial support for postgraduate students within the School of Law. This scholarship is only available for Aberdeen campus students, and it is a fund that provides limited financial support for postgraduate students (taught and research) within the Law School.

    ELIGIBILITY:

    Applicants must satisfy one of the four criteria below in order to be eligible.

    PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE TWO ROLLING DEADLINES FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP EVERY YEAR: MARCH 31 AND SEPTEMBER 30.

    You must have applied to study or currently study Law at either the research level (PhD/LLM by Research) or the taught level (LLM) at the University of Aberdeen—Form 1.

    You must be a current student of the University of Aberdeen studying Law at either research (PhD/LLM by Research) or taught level (LLM) and propose to study abroad—Form 2.

    You must be a member of staff from a non-UK higher education institution proposing to lecture at the University of Aberdeen—Form 3.

    You must be a member of the staff of the University of Aberdeen wishing to study foreign law or legal practice and who has exhausted the possibility of funding from (a) external bodies and (b) Departmental funds.—Form 4

    Please note that online programmes are excluded from the remit of the Trust.

    Applicants must submit the relevant completed forms and supply all necessary documents by the applicable deadline.

    There are 4 (four) forms available. Applicants must submit the form corresponding to their eligibility.

    Applications will not be considered unless submitted with a Curriculum Vitae (CV), two references, and an academic transcript. Students already registered at Aberdeen must include at least one reference from academic staff at the University of Aberdeen. Please make sure that you submit the relevant application form together with all necessary documents before the deadline.
