FULLY FUNDED HANSEN LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP (HLI), 2026

The Hansen Leadership Institute is very pleased to announce the transformative opportunity for young global leaders to collaborate, learn, and grow in an environment dedicated to leadership development and peacebuilding.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible to apply for the 2026 Hansen Leadership Institute, you must meet several basic requirements:

You must be 20-25 years old on July 1, 2026

You must have completed at least one year of college or university at the time of application.

If you are not currently enrolled in college or university, you must be a recent graduate (2024 or 2025 to apply)

You do not need a U.S. visa to apply for the program. If you are selected as a participant, the institute will provide all the necessary documentation to assist in your U.S. visa application, including a letter of acceptance, a letter defining our financial support, a DS-2019 issued by the University of San Diego and a receipt for your paid SEVIS fees.

To verify English proficiency, when you submit a name and email address for your academic referee, they will automatically receive an email with instructions to log in and answer a questionnaire to complete to verify your English proficiency. This verification will be submitted with their recommendation form. This is an automatic process; there is no extra information for you to provide.

The next program dates are July 1-22, 2026. ALL FELLOWS MUST ATTEND THE ENTIRE PROGRAM. No participants will be allowed to arrive late or leave early.

The selection committee will begin reviewing international student applications in February, and results will be emailed to all applicants in early March.

References: This is a letter of reference from a person who knows you well and can explain why you are a qualified applicant for the program. All applicants must submit two (2) references:

From an academic adviser or professor. This person should be able to evaluate your English proficiency and;

From an NGO or community organization with whom you have worked.

In order to give your referees ample time to reply, you should request these recommendations as soon as you begin the application.

    BENEFIT:

    The Hansen Leadership Institute is fully funded by the Fred J. Hansen Foundation. This includes international airfare, room and board, and all programmatic costs. If selected, the only cost to participants will be the fees incurred in obtaining a passport and spending money.

    2026 CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE INTERMATHS ERASMUS MUNDUS JOINT MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

    The 2026 call for applications for the InterMaths Erasmus Mundus Joint Master is open. The 2-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Interdisciplinary Mathematics begins in September. EMJM scholarships are offered to the most talented candidates of any nationality who will be full-time enrolled in the InterMaths EMJM programme.

    ELIGIBILITY:

    The application is open to students of any nationality. However, before deciding on your eligibility, they need to look through all the required documents. Therefore, if you want to be taken into consideration for their next intake, first check if you meet the minimum academic requirements, then fill in our online application form to submit all the required documents. Your application will then be evaluated along with all the others received, and a selection list will be published on this page—see below for details.

    Academic Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or other similar fields with a very strong mathematical background (BS, BSc, SB, etc. or a degree at the same level of an academic Bachelor’s Degree, e.g. its equivalent from a college, university, or technical school of high standing, or 180 ECTS credits in the European system)

    Language requirements: All applicants are required to prove an adequate level of English (CEFR B2 level, at least).

    Applicants who have conducted their university or secondary-school studies in an English-speaking institution for one or more years will only have to verify that English is the medium of instruction in such institutions (for this purpose, you will find a dedicated section in the application form—no certificate submission is required).

    You won’t be charged any fee to take part in the application process.

    To apply for a scholarship, you won’t need to submit a separate application

    By submitting your application before the set deadline for scholarships (see below), your application will automatically be considered for an EMJM scholarship, too.

    filling outFor practical reasons, by filling our application form, you are applying for all three programmes managed by our Network:

    Erasmus Mundus Joint Master “InterMaths—Interdisciplinary Mathematics”; European Joint MSc “Mathmods—Mathematical Modelling in Engineering ”; International MSc “RealMaths—Mathematics for Real World Applications”.

    To this purpose, in the application form you will be asked to express your level of interest in each of the three programs. After the evaluation, a unique ranking will be generated with the information on the program(s) for which you have obtained the minimum score for admission.

    BENEFIT:

    Students who are awarded an EMJM scholarship won’t have to pay any participation costs.

    Tuition, registration and any other mandatory costs related to their participation in the course are fully waived. However, the student has to cover accommodation, living, travelling, equipment, and any other personal expenses
