2027 EDGE FELLOWSHIP: CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Applications are now open for the 2027-2029 EDGE Fellowship. The EDGE Fellowship supports early-career conservationists working to protect some of the world’s most evolutionarily distinct and globally threatened species. Through training, mentorship, funding, and ongoing technical support, the Fellowship helps emerging conservation leaders develop and deliver locally led conservation projects for EDGE species.

ELIGIBILITY:

They are looking for early-career conservationists who:

Want to become part of a global network of EDGE Fellows working to protect extraordinary and overlooked species.

Are committed to leading conservation action for an eligible EDGE species;

Are nationals or long-term residents of the country where the project will take place with strong links to the specific region or landscape;

Can demonstrate the local conservation need for their proposed work;

Are ready to take part in training, mentoring and peer learning as part of the fellowship

The 2027 call will use a two-stage application process. Applicants should first submit an Expression of Interest using the form below. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to submit a full application.

BENEFIT:

Through the Fellowship, we aim to build a global network of highly skilled, locally grounded leaders who can spearhead conservation action where it is most needed and for species that receive the least attention.

The EDGE Fellowship is 28 months long, and each EDGE Fellow can expect the following:

Six-weeks of training in-person

Support to develop a comprehensive project plan

A grant of GBP 15,000 for project implementation

Wraparound mentorship and professional development opportunities

TWAS-CUI POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

LOCATION: Pakistans

The TWAS-CUI Fellowship Programme for Postdoctoral Research offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to pursue postdoctoral research in natural or social sciences. Duration: a maximum of six months (no cost extensions may be provided for an additional six months).

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants for these fellowships must meet the following criteria:

Be nationals of a developing country (other than Pakistan);

Must not be on site in Pakistan;

Must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Pakistan or any developed country;

Hold a PhD degree in a field of natural sciences;

IF applying in a field of eligible social sciences, hold a PhD degree in a field of social sciences.

Apply for the fellowship within five years of having obtained a PhD degree;

Be regularly employed in a developing country (other than Pakistan) and hold a research assignment there;

Provide an official Acceptance Letter from CUI (see sample preliminary acceptance letter that can be downloaded below or included in the online application form). Postdoctoral applicants may contact the prospective supervisor for academic guidance or input. See the list of host supervisors in the excel at the bottom of this page. After finding a suitable host supervisor, applicants are required to formally apply for an acceptance letter in writing to the Attention of: Mr. Kashif Masood, CUI Deputy Registrar here: cuitwasfellowships@comsats.edu.pk;

Provide evidence of proficiency in English, if medium of education was not English;

Provide evidence that s/he will return to her/his home country on completion of the fellowship;

Not take up other assignments during the period of her/his fellowship;

Be financially responsible for any accompanying family members and for any delay incurred in completing the fellowship.

The language of instruction is English.

Applicants are encouraged to apply for the preliminary acceptance letter as early as possible. Keeping in mind that only Acceptance letters dated the same year as the year of application are eligible.

BENEFIT:

CUI will provide a monthly stipend, which should be used to cover living costs such as food, accommodation, and health insurance. The monthly stipend will not be convertible into foreign currency.
