CALL FOR ENTRIES: 28TH LUIS VALTUEÑA INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD

Médicos del Mundo Spain announces the 28th Luis Valtueña International Humanitarian Photography Award, aimed at recognizing and disseminating the best images that singularly demonstrate social inequities, injustices, and/or human rights abuses, or the situations that either foster or fight them.

ELIGIBILITY:

Entry is free

The submitted images must narrate a story related to one of these topics: health, natural disasters, humanitarian action, international cooperation, social exclusion, violation of human rights, armed conflicts, vulnerable groups, refugee and/or migrant populations.

This year, entries must be submitted exclusively in digital format via the Picter website. If you are not yet registered on the platform, you will need to create an account in order to participate. You will only be able to submit a single application. Once your submission is successfully submitted, you will receive a confirmation email.

Each entrant must submit the following documentation:
Personal and contact details
Biography (max. 1500 characters)
A series of between 5 (minimum) and 10 (maximum) photographs, in color and/or in black and white
Description of the project presented, including captions

Important: The author’s name must not appear in the description of the project, in the captions or in the name of the files.

BENEFIT:

Winner: €6,000 award.

Winner and finalists:

Receive a plaque

Participation in the annual and itinerant exhibition produced by Médicos del Mundo.

Publication of the photo series on the exhibition catalog, available in Spanish, English, and French. Each author will receive five copies.

Publication in the online collection on Premio Luis Valtueña’s website.

Travel and accommodation (two nights) to attend the Luis Valtueña International Award ceremony and the exhibition opening in 2025 in Madrid.

Press release and newsletter announcement to over Médicos del Mundo community. Winner and finalists are often featured in major publications in Spain.

IAEA MARIE SKLODOWSKA-CURIE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME (MSCFP)

The IAEA Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme (MSCFP) seeks to inspire and support young women to pursue a career in the nuclear field. To that end, the MSCFP provides scholarships to selected students studying towards a master’s degree in nuclear related subjects as well as internship opportunities facilitated by IAEA.

ELIGIBILITY:

The IAEA MSCFP is open to students from IAEA Member States who meet the following entry requirements:

Female candidates;

Accepted by or enrolled in an accredited university in master’s programme in a nuclear related field.

Preference will be given to applicants with above average academic credentials (75% or above or GPA > 3.0 out of 4.0).

The programme supports young women studying in nuclear related fields relevant to the IAEA’s work to advance the safe, secure and peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology such as nuclear engineering, nuclear physics and chemistry, nuclear medicine, isotopic techniques, radiation biology, nuclear safety, nuclear security, non-proliferation and nuclear law. More examples of related fields are listed here.

The documents required in addition to completed online application form are:

Copy of the Passport/National ID

Official acceptance/admission letter from university into the master’s programme indicating the nuclear related field of study and duration of the programme

Statement of tuition fees/confirmation of tuition costs

If applicable, documents about other scholarships you have for the master’s programme for which you are seeking MSCFP support.

Completed reference templates sent directly to MSCFP by referees by the application deadline (download the form here). One reference is MANDATORY, second is preferred.

NOTE: All application documents must be submitted in English using the MSCFP online application form. If documents are submitted in original language please also include official translation in English. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

BENEFIT:

The students are awarded up to €20,000 for tuition costs and up to €20,000 for living costs for the master’s programme.
