UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND MARK BARROW EDUCATION AND SOCIAL PRACTICE SCHOLARSHIP

The intention of the Scholarship is to support a student to undertake a master’s thesis or research portfolio in the Faculty of Arts and Education at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland that aims to make a positive contribution towards addressing an issue or issues related to social or educational inequality.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for Scholarship consideration, an applicant must be i) enrolled, or enrolling, full-time or part-time in a masters thesis or research portfolio with a points value of at least 60 points in the Faculty of Arts and Education at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland, and ii) undertaking, or planning to undertake, research addressing an issue or issues about social or educational inequality relating to Māori, Pacific peoples, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTIQTakatapui+ community, people from refugee backgrounds or from low-socio economic groups, and where students are first in their family to attend university. Students who are enrolled in a masters programme of more than 120 points must be enrolled in the thesis or research portfolio component at the time of take-up of the Scholarship to be eligible for consideration. A grade point average (GPA) or grade point equivalent (GPE) of at least 6.00 (5.50 for Māori and Pacific candidates) in the most recent qualifying programme is required for Scholarship consideration

The scholarship is tenable by a domestic or international student.

To be paid the scholarship, the awardee must be enrolled in a master’s thesis or research portfolio with a points value of at least 60 points component in the Faculty of Arts and Education.

Terms and Conditions

BENEFIT:

One scholarship will be awarded annually for a period of up to one semester and will be of the value of $5,000. Payments to part-time students will be prorated.

Have applied for and be in receipt of an offer from your preferred master’s programme at Loughborough University London – not open to the Loughborough campus programmes

Demonstrate disruptive thinking and a commitment to change in one of our three strategic themes ‘Climate Change, Vibrant and Inclusive Communities or Sport, Health and Wellbeing

Applicants must complete an application form outlining how they meet the criteria. No further documentation is required or will be reviewed.

All applications will be read by the team at Loughborough University London. The award is highly competitive and will be given at the discretion of the Dean with the support of the Senior Leadership Team. The Dean’s decision is final.
