ELIGIBILITY:

African nationals who are currently studying, working at, or recently graduated from one of the six PERI-ACE core partner institutions. Specific eligibility varies by mobility type — refer to the Application Guidelines. 

PERI-ACE is committed to equitable access. The project targets women’s participation across all mobility categories, with deliberate outreach to applicants in climate-related STEM fields. Applications are actively encouraged from candidates from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, fragile states, least-developed regions, and those with refugee status and from candidates with disabilities. To promote regional diversity, mobility will be distributed equitably across diverse nationalities. 

The 40 mobility opportunities are distributed across four categories: 

Master’s scholarships — combining full-degree mobilities of 24 months and credit-seeking mobilities of 10 months. 

Doctoral scholarships—36-month research programmes aligned with regional climate priorities. 

Traineeships — five-month placements at associated partners ICPAC and AMCOW. 

Provision is also made for one special-needs scholarship to support a candidate with disabilities. 

English is the primary language of instruction across the consortium. Selected programmes at 2iE and Cheikh Anta Diop University are delivered in French, and at Eduardo Mondlane University, in Portuguese. 

PERI-ACE includes dedicated funding for disabled or special-needs support, including tailored study materials, assistive arrangements, counseling services, and integration support.

Calls are issued cohort by cohort across the four-year project. Doctoral and first MSc cohort calls open in Year 1; further MSc, traineeship, and staff-exchange calls follow in subsequent years. Follow the project website and social media for announcements.

BENEFIT:

Scholarship Details: The project aims to support individuals with Master’s, Doctoral, Traineeship mobility. Funds allocated for scholarship contributions cover travel, visa application fees, and living costs, including accommodation and subsistence. These are paid to students monthly in local currency, at the equivalent value in Euros. 

Institutional Support: Provision is made for institutional contributions per scholarship to cover academic expenses and administrative fees, such as tuition and research and laboratory costs. These funds also support attendance at on-campus or in-country conferences, seminars, and boot camps relevant to the academic programme, undertaken with the guidance of the student’s academic lead.

Special Needs Support: Dedicated funds provide services for students with disabilities, including tailored study materials, appropriate academic support solutions, disability wellness booklets, and emotional support. They are committed to empowering all students to achieve their full potential and ensuring effective integration into campus life.
