RICHARD A. FREUND INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Richard A. Freund International Scholarship is established in honor of Richard A. Freund, a former president of ASQ. This scholarship supports graduate studies in the theory and application of quality control, quality assurance, quality improvement, and total quality management. It focuses on the engineering, statistical, managerial, and behavioral foundations of these fields. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Application Deadline: The annual deadline for applications is April 1.

Study Location: Studies may take place either in the applicant’s home country or abroad.

ASQ Membership: Applicants are not required to be ASQ members.

Eligibility: Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.25 (both undergraduate and graduate levels).

Field of Study: Applicants must focus their studies on quality control, quality assurance, quality improvement, total quality management, or a related field with an emphasis on quality.

Eligibility Review: ASQ staff is unable to review or predetermine whether an applicant meets the scholarship requirements. It is the applicant’s responsibility to carefully review the eligibility criteria and ensure all required documentation is included in the application. 

This scholarship presents a valuable opportunity for graduate students dedicated to advancing the fields of quality and management.

BENEFIT:

The scholarship award is announced by July 1 each year, with a value of $5,000 for the annual award.

WATERLOO BLACK BRILLIANCE SANKOFA AWARD

Application Deadline: April 15, 2025

LOCATION: Canada

Two awards, valued at up to $20,000 paid over eight academic terms, will be provided to Black undergraduate students entering Year One of any full-time degree program in the Faculty of Arts.

ELIGIBILITY:

Black undergraduate students entering Year One of any full-time degree program in the Faculty of Arts (Black students may include African, Afro-Caribbean, Black Canadian, Afro-Latine, African American, Afro-Indigenous, or other African descent.)

Selection will be based on a combination of academic achievement and community involvement through extracurricular and/or volunteer activities.

Preference will be given to students who best demonstrate what receiving this award would mean to their pursuit of post-secondary studies.

To be considered, students must submit an online award application by April 15.

Recipients will receive $2,500 per academic term for up to eight terms (1A-4B).

Payments beyond Year One are dependent on maintaining a minimum overall average of 70% and full-time enrolment in the Faculty of Arts.
