The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program provides funding to the very best postdoctoral applicants, both nationally and internationally, who will positively contribute to the country’s economic, social, and research-based growth.

ELIGIBILITY:

The scholarship is open to students from all countries.

Applicants must not be a holders of the scholarship in the previous years.

Students should be willing to develop their leadership potential.

Demonstrate academic excellence and extensive research potential.

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program is unique in its emphasis on the synergy between:

the applicant – their individual merit and potential to launch a successful research-intensive career; and

the host institution – their commitment to the research program and alignment with the institution’s strategic priorities.

An applicant to the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program must complete their application in full collaboration with the proposed host institution.

70 fellowships are awarded annually; approximately 140 awards are active at any time. Fellowships are distributed equally among:

the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)

the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC)

the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)

Value: $70,000 per year (taxable)

Duration: 2 years (non-renewable)

UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND DOCTORAL SCHOLARSHIP

LOCATION: New Zealand

The University awards University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarships to high-achieving doctoral candidates applying for admission to an approved doctoral programme at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland. The intention of the Scholarship is to encourage and support excellent domestic and international doctoral candidates who wish to conduct research which aligns with the strategic objectives of Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland. Applicants who are applying to enrol in their first doctorate will be assessed for scholarship eligibility and award at the time of application to the doctoral programme.

ELIGIBILITY:

Application for a University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship must be made as part of the application for the doctoral programme.

To be eligible for scholarship consideration, an application must be consistent with the requirements of Regulations 5 and 6 and the domestic fees eligibility requirement of Regulation 10. Except as permitted under Regulations 7 to 9, applicants can only be considered for the award of a University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship prior to receiving their offer (which may be conditional) of admission to the doctoral programme.

The Scholarship is tenable by domestic and international students who are eligible to pay domestic fees for their doctoral study, and who meet all the requirements of these regulations.

You do not need to apply for this scholarship, award or prize or complete an online application form. It is awarded on the recommendation of the relevant faculty or University of Auckland committee.

BENEFIT:

The University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship consists of:

a tax-free stipend of up to $33,825 per annum in 2024, with an annual CPI adjustment to the stipend value, for up to 36 months of full-time equivalent (FTE) doctoral enrolment,

 the Student Services Fee and compulsory tuition fees for prescribed study for the doctoral programme for up to 36 months FTE,

the single student Health Insurance compulsory charge (as detailed on the tuition fees invoice) for the duration of the Scholarship for international students.
