KU LEUVEN FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES PARTIAL TUITION FEE WAIVER

In an effort to support and encourage students from lower-income or lower-developed countries, each academic year the Faculty of Social Sciences grants a number of partial tuition fee waivers. By providing financial assistance in this way, the faculty aims to foster a diverse and inclusive learning environment in which these students can pursue their educational aspirations and contribute to the cultural and intellectual vibrancy of our institution.

ELIGIBILITY:

Degree type: Master’s programmes

Advanced Master’s programmes

Eligible programme(s): Master of Communication Sciences: Digital Media and Society (DMaS)

Master of International Politics (MIP)

Master of Sociology

Master of Advanced Studies in European Policies and Public Administration (MEPP)

Eligible Nationalities: Africa, Asia, Central America, South America, Oceania, Europe

A partial tuition fee waiver can only be awarded to students applying as a degree contract student for one of the programmes mentioned (cf. Eligible programmes), and meeting all of the following 4 criteria:

Legally holding the nationality of a country included on our country list (cf. Eligible nationalities)

Having obtained a first academic degree (BA or equivalent) in that very same country (or exceptionally another country on the list);

Having received a formal Letter of Admission from the central KU Leuven administration (i.e. a positive result of your application) for one of the participating programmes;

Completed the request form, including a short letter of motivation (focus on financial aspects, max. 500 words).

1 August 2025. (Late applications are welcome until the start of the academic year, but chances to get a positive response will be significantly lower.)

BENEFIT:

The partial tuition fee waiver depends on the programme:

Master of Communication Sciences: Digital Media and Society: tuition fee reduced to ca. €1.425,70 (*).

Master of International Politics: tuition fee reduced to €1.425,70 (*).

Master of Sociology: tuition fee reduced to €1.425,70 (*).

Master of Advanced Studies in European Policies and Public Administration: tuition fee reduced to €4.446,60 (*).

(*) These reduced tuition fees are valid for the academic year 2024-2025 only. Updates for 2025-2026 will be published in due time.

DARTMOUTH KING SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The King Scholar Program prepares today’s young scholars from developing countries to be tomorrow’s leaders in alleviating global poverty.

ELIGIBILITY:

The King Scholars Program seeks low-income students from developing nations who are interested in alleviating poverty in their home countries. At Dartmouth, King Scholars receive 4-year scholarships and extensive mentoring and leadership training. Upon graduation, they return home to tackle poverty issues, supported by Dartmouth’s alumni network.

King Scholars receive pre-orientation support and mentoring services to help with the transition to college and ongoing academic mentoring throughout their Dartmouth careers. All King Scholars are part of the First Year Student Enrichment Program, an intensive experience that prepares students to handle many of the challenges they will face during the course of their first year. They are also part of a supportive and close-knit community of fellow Scholars and students.

BENEFIT:

Full Scholarships to Dartmouth:

King Scholars attend Dartmouth for four years at no cost to students or their families. This includes health insurance, a new computer in the first year, and annual travel between Dartmouth and the student’s home country.
