FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY CASE DEAN’S DISTINGUISHED GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP, MA/MFA

The College of Arts, Sciences, and Education Dean’s Distinguished Graduate Fellowship (DDGF) program provides 2-years of support for selected fellows. The College recognizes that academic excellence at the undergraduate level is not the only indication of a potentially successful graduate student. Thus, experiences that demonstrate characteristics of resilience, self-awareness, creativity, perseverance in achieving goals, and leadership will be considered during the evaluation process. Applicants will also be evaluated on their ability and desire to collaborate in a diverse and inclusive working environment.

ELIGIBILITY:

One fellow will be selected from among the following doctoral programs: MA in English (all subplans) and MFA in Creative Writing

Application Requirements

Transcripts from previous academic institutions must be present in the application materials submitted for the desired graduate program.

Completed online questionnaire. See Supplemental Questions below.

Provide the name and contact information for one professor or research advisor from a previous or current academic institution to provide a recommendation letter that will attest to the applicant’s qualities as sought by this fellowship program.

Evidence of prior fellowships, honors, or awards. Copies of award letters will suffice as acceptable evidence.

All fellows must meet admissions requirements of the graduate program to which they are applying. It is expected that research interests of the fellow will be in line with the needs and expertise of that program.
Fellows will be required to attend various workshops selected from topics such as career development, mentorship, effective teaching techniques, and writing. A workshop on writing fellowship applications will enhance the fellow’s chances of continued support through other fellowship programs.

Additional requirements include

a 3.00 GPA in all semesters of the fellowship.

good progress toward meeting degree milestones is expected.

remaining in good standing with regards to academic integrity.

maintaining a healthy, collegial working relationship with faculty and other students.

This fellowship is offered only to applicants to the MA in English and the MFA in Creative Writing. Are you an applicant to one of these programs?

Provide a statement of your research or artistic interest as it pertains to the graduate program to which you have applied. (Maximum of 500 words)

List past research or artistic experience. This may include independent study, honor’s theses, paid or unpaid research at your home institution or as an REU student, conference presentations, publications, and journal clubs. We recognize that not all applicants will have the same access to scholarly opportunities. What have you actively done to increase your scholarly experience, knowledge, and skills? (Maximum of 300 words)

FRANCIS FONTAN FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME FOR EACTS MEMBERS

Application runs from: 1st July – 1st September 2025

LOCATION: USA

The Francis Fontan Fellowship program fosters the continued growth and development of cardiothoracic surgeons by providing opportunities to learn from the highest standards of cardiothoracic care and gain knowledge of novel techniques and innovative technologies used by other institutes around the world. Successful applicants will use the valuable learnings and collaborative relationships developed through their fellowship to further the progress of cardiothoracic surgery at their home institution and support the delivery of the highest quality patient care.

ELIGIBILITY:
Applicants who possess the following desirable criteria would be of particular interest:

Previous attendance at EACTS courses and Annual Meetings

Fellow of EBCTS

Previous experience with data, quality and outcome operations

Possibility of applying the knowledge and abilities acquired during the fellowship in home practice

In order to complete your application, you must submit the following documents*:

Letter of support from current Head of Department/Training director (if in last year of training)

Letter of interest (detailing the way in which you meet the application criteria, your career aspirations and how you are in a position to apply the skills and knowledge obtained during the Fellowship in your own centre)

CV

Operative experience

Be fluent in English

Start Date: From January 2026

BENEFIT:

They offer a bursary of €20,000 to help with the living and travel costs associated with this fellowship. 
EACTS will also provide a bursary towards the cost of your attendance at the 2025 EACTS Annual Meeting.
