UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY LAW SCHOOL WA COOKE, JANE COOKE AND ALFRED GODFREY SCHOLARSHIP

LOCATION: Australia

Stipend allowance for up to three and a half years for a postgraduate research student to conduct research in the University of Sydney Law School.

Established by the WA Cooke, Jane Cooke, and Alfred Godfrey bequests, this scholarship has been made available by the generosity of three benefactors of the University of Sydney Law School. The scholarship is made possible by combining three separate bequests, all of which set the same terms and conditions.

ELIGIBILITY:

You must:

Have an unconditional offer of admission to study full-time in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Criminology (MCrim) (Research) or Master of Laws (LLM) (Research) within the Sydney Law School

Be willing to conduct research in the disciplines of law

Hold at least one of the following degrees in law:

An honours degree (first class or second class upper) or equivalent

A master’s degree by research

A master’s degree by coursework with a High Distinction or Distinction level, including a research component equivalent to 25% of one year’s full-time enrolment

A degree in Law together with research and/or professional experience deemed to be equivalent to first-class honors.

Note: Preference will be given to commencing candidates, though the Scholarship may exceptionally be awarded to currently enrolled full-time PhD, MCrim by Research, or LLM by Research students demonstrating progress towards timely thesis completion and exceptional research achievements.

Law students will automatically be considered for this scholarship. A separate application is not required.

Note: The award of this scholarship is subject to funding availability.

BENEFIT:

This scholarship can be awarded as either Primary or Supplementary scholarship.

When offered as primary, the Scholarship will provide a primary stipend allowance of up to $50,000 per annum as per the below duration:

Up to 1.75 years for a successful full-time MCrim by Research or LLM by Research recipient. No extension is possible.

Up to 3 years for a successful full-time PhD recipient with a possible six-month extension.

When offered as supplementary (stipend), the Scholarship will provide a supplementary stipend allowance to match a total stipend value (i.e., primary plus supplementary) up to $50,000 per annum as per the below duration:

Up to 1.75 years for a successful full-time MCrim by Research or LLM by Research recipient. No extension is possible.

Up to 3 years for a successful full-time PhD recipient with a possible six-month extension.

When offered as either primary or supplementary (one-off payment), the Scholarship value will be paid as a one-off payment on receipt of the Scholarship Acceptance Form. The value of the scholarship will be mentioned in the offer letter.

KEELE UNIVERSITY ADVANCED ENTRY SCHOLARSHIP (UG) 2025

LOCATION: United Kingdom

The Advanced Entry Scholarship is awarded to enrolled undergraduate international students who exceed the published entry requirements on entry and who start their studies at Keele University partway through their undergraduate degree (after the first year).

ELIGIBILITY:

Enrolled undergraduate international students who exceed the published entry requirements (as per the website for the year of entry) will automatically be awarded the scholarship as a tuition fee discount.

Enrolled undergraduate international students accepted at or below the published entry criteria will be awarded a £1,000 scholarship, and then they will follow the yearly assessment as outlined above. 

Only students who are starting studies at Keele, having studied at a different institution, are eligible for this award.

Only self-funding international students are eligible, and you must be confirmed as an overseas student for fee-paying purposes. The scholarship is not open to students who are in receipt of funding from external bodies such as local Government, charities, or private organizations.

The Scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students who will be based at Keele University and start their studies in September 2025. The award cannot be used for any other year of entry.

Your application will be assessed automatically when you apply, so there is no need to provide a separate application for this scholarship. 

Qualifying recipients of the scholarship will receive the award in the form of a tuition fee discount. No cash alternative is available, and the award cannot be used in place of any required deposit.

This scholarship cannot be combined with any other awards.

BENEFIT:

Awards of £3,000 will be awarded towards the tuition fee for the year of entry for students who exceed published entry requirements. 

If a weighted average module mark of 60-69% is achieved from the modules studied in any subsequent year of study, then a payment of £1,000 will be awarded towards the following year’s tuition fee. If a weighted average module mark of 70% or more is achieved from the modules studied in any subsequent year of study, then a payment of £2,000 will be awarded towards the following year’s tuition fee.
