GLOBAL SILVER EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP AT SALFORD

LOCATION: United Kingdom

This scholarship supports high-achieving international students at undergraduate and postgraduate level. 

ELIGIBILITY:

International scholarships (awards) are available to international applicants who are: 

Addressed as international students for fee-paying purposes and are charged the regular international tuition fee for the duration of the programme.

A new student at the University of Salford, not continuing or progressing from one programme to another (except self-funded International Foundation year students who are progressing onto an undergraduate course starting in 2025-26 who would be eligible for one of our Global scholarships only if they meet the grades).

Studying full-time, on-campus for the duration of the programme.

Studying an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate taught master’s programme. You can find out what scholarships are not eligible for awards on this page and also on the individual scholarship web pages.

Self-funding. International awards are not available to students where any part of the tuition fees are paid through a sponsoring organisation. 

Not applying for a programme where the tuition fee has been negotiated as part of a partnership or other arrangement to make the fee non-standard.

For the purposes of assessing international awards:  Any undergraduate programmes including a placement with the NHS, including Diagnostic Radiography, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy,  Podiatry,  Prosthetics, and Orthotics.

Entry to BSc, BA, LLB, MEng programmes is considered for undergraduate awards.

Entry to MSc, MA, MBA, LLM programmes is considered for postgraduate awards.

Entry to MA Architecture (MArch) is considered for postgraduate awards.

All other qualifications are not eligible for international awards. These include International Foundation Year, HNC, PG Cert, PG Diploma, MRes, MSc (by research), MPhil, PhD, Graduate Certificate/GradCerts.

There is no separate application process for this scholarship. You will be assessed when you apply for your chosen programme of study. If you are successfully offered this scholarship, you must accept your offer of admission and pay your tuition fee deposit by the deadline specified in order to receive the funding.

BENEFIT:

For undergraduate applicants, the Global Silver Excellence Scholarship is worth £3,000.

For postgraduate applicants starting, the Global Silver Excellence Scholarship is worth £2,500.

UNIVERSITY OF ESSEX AFRICA POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

LOCATION: United Kingdom

If you’re an international student from a member state of the African Union and are self-funding your postgraduate studies, you could be eligible for a scholarship, paid as a discount on your tuition fee. Awards will be made based on grades obtained in your undergraduate degree, so all applications for relevant courses will automatically be considered.

ELIGIBILITY:

Nigeria: CGPA 3/5 or above or CGPA 2.50/4.0, or 4.00/6.00 or 4.00/7.00
OR A pass grade for Medical Degrees awarded by an approved Nigerian Institution

Egypt: 2:1 or above (or equivalent as defined by our Postgraduate Admissions selection criteria)

Ghana: 2:1, or CGPA 3.0/4.0 or above or CGPA 3.5/5.0

All other member states of the African Union: 2:1 or above (or equivalent as defined by our Postgraduate Admissions selection criteria)

These scholarships are restricted to students who are overseas fee payers and are entirely self-funded:

Students must be ordinarily resident (see below for the definition of ordinary residence) in a member state of the African Union.

Students must have been awarded an undergraduate degree (this includes integrated Masters degrees) with the grade specified or above. We are not able to consider students on the basis of a postgraduate qualification that they hold (other than an integrated Masters) A higher Masters grade cannot be taken to compensate for a lower Bachelors grade;

Students must register at the University of Essex in October 2025 or January 2026 for the first year of a full-time Masters course in academic year 2025-26 only, leading to the degree of: ̶ MA, MSc, LLM, MFA, MPP, MBM These scholarships may be awarded to students who have completed relevant university studies in one of the specified countries above.

The award cannot be held in conjunction with any other University of Essex scholarships. Students who are eligible for this award and are joining Essex through a link agreement, which includes a discounted fee, will receive whichever award is greater in value.

This scholarship is available for the first year of taught Masters study at Essex only;

Successful students should be available for promotional activities. *Students receiving a repayable loan to fund their studies will be considered as self-funded.

Nigeria: £4,500

Egypt: £6,500

Ghana: £4,500

All other member states of the African Union: £4,500
