THE WILKES CENTER FOR CLIMATE SCIENCE & POLICY LAUNCH PRIZE

Application Deadline:  February 28, 2025 (all submissions must be submitted by 11:59 PM MST, Friday night).

The Wilkes Climate Launch Prize highlights top global ideas for combating climate change. Each year, by elevating and honoring innovative climate solutions, this University of Utah prize aims to accelerate worldwide progress and encourage technological advances. Our goal is to develop effective climate change solutions quickly for the benefit of people and ecosystems worldwide.

ELIGIBILITY:

Organizations at all stages, both for-profits and nonprofits, anywhere in the world are eligible to submit ideas to be considered for the Wilkes Climate Launch Prize. This includes seed, pre-seed, venture-funded, publicly traded stage companies, or nonprofits.

Phase I: First round submissions Due February 28, 2025 (all submissions must be submitted by 11:59 PM MST, Friday night)

Phase II:  Finalists submit second-round application on May 13th and pitch in-person at Wilkes Climate Summit at the University of Utah, May 15, 2025

Awards: Award ceremony in September 2025

BENEFIT:

The 2025 Wilkes Climate Launch Prize amounts to $250,000.

NIKON SMALL WORLD PHOTOMICROGRAPHY COMPETITION 

Application Deadline: 30 April 2025

LOCATION: USA

The Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition is open to anyone with an interest in microscopy and photography through the microscope. The video competition, entitled Small World In Motion encompasses any movie or digital time-lapse photography taken through the microscope.

ELIGIBILITY:

The contest is open to anyone over the age of 18 years who is not an employee of Nikon, their agencies, affiliates or any competing microscope or camera manufacturers.

Nikon Small World is open for all STILL images taken using a light microscope (sorry, Electron microscope and Macro images are not eligible). Nikon Small World in Motion is open to all movies, time-lapse micrographs taken through a light microscope.

BENEFIT:

The top prize is $3,000 for each top winner in Nikon Small World AND Nikon Small World in Motion. Additional prizes are awarded to the top 20, Honorable Mention and Images of Distinction for Small World, and the top 5 and Honorable Mentions for Small World in Motion.
