AERC INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

LOCATION:  Kenya

The AERC is committed to ensuring it gives internship opportunities to recent postgraduates. The objective of the AERC Internship Programme is to develop and prepare recent postgraduates to take up employment opportunities that come up in research, policy making and capacity building institutions. 

ELIGIBILITY:

The AERC aims to select candidates with a Master’s degree in any one the following disciplines:

Economics; Statistics; Agricultural Economics; Development Studies; Mathematics; or Gender Studies.

Governance and Knowledge Management.

General Support Services: Accounting and Finance Administration; Procurement; or HR Management.

Communication & External Relations

Aged 30 and below at point of submitting application

Holds a minimum of a master’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized university; and is applying for the internship within one year of having obtained a master’s degree

Is a Kenyan citizen or has legal document allowing him/her to work in Kenya

Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) in English, with a working knowledge of another language (e.g. proficiency in French is an added advantage).

Female candidates are encouraged to apply.

In addition to the above selection criteria, preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the following:

Rapid turnaround of work

Good communication skills

BENEFIT:

Eligible interns will receive a monthly stipend.

Interns may be authorized to participate in an official AERC assignment.

Internships will take place at the AERC’s headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya; either remotely or on-site depending on the needs of the hiring departments.

Interns must have attained at least a Master’s degree in their area of expertise from a recognized university.

PASET REGIONAL SCHOLARSHIP AND INNOVATION FUND (RSIF) PHD SCHOLARSHIPS

LOCATION: Kenya 

Rsif aims to train quality PhD students and post-doctoral researchers to address the human resource gap of highly qualified specialists in the fields of applied sciences, engineering, and technology (ASET) and to contribute to improving research and innovation capacities in those fields in SSA.

ELIGIBILITY:

Eligible applicants must:

Be a citizen of any country in sub-Saharan Africa.

Have a relevant master’s degree related to the Rsif fields of study.

Meet the specific admission requirements of the Rsif AHU that hosts the PhD program.

Be 35 years of age or younger at the date of application.

Be willing to enrol full-time in a PhD program at an Rsif AHU in the 2024-2025 academic year.

Should not be holding another PhD scholarship when applying to the Rsif PhD scholarship.

Be willing to spend 6-12 months in a ‘sandwich’ training at an international partner university, research institute or private company.

Be willing to work on a research topic that aligns with and contributes to national or regional development in Africa.

Priority for the scholarships will be given to women and existing young academic faculty who do not have a PhD.

BENEFIT:

University tuition fee and research costs.

A monthly allowance to cover living expenses such as accommodation and meals while at the Rsif AHU and while on a sandwich placement at an International Partner Institute.

Return travel from home country to the Rsif AHU.

Return travel from the Rsif AHU to the International Partner Institute

Visas and student permits.

Annual medical and personal accident insurance.
