UNIVERSITY OF GOTHENBURG SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS AT THE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, ECONOMICS AND LAW

LOCATION: Sweden

If you are applying to the Master’s programmes given at the School of Business, Economics and Law, you can apply to the The Richard C. Malmsten Memorial Foundation Scholarship. The Richard C. Malmsten Memorial Foundation Scholarship is available for applicants to nine master’s degree programmes. The scholarship covers part of the tuition fee.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Richard C. Malmsten Memorial Foundation scholarship is open to apply to if;

You are required to pay tuition fee for education in Sweden

You have applied for one of the School of Business, Economics and Law’s Master’s programmes;

Master of Science in Accounting and Financial Management

Master of Science in Economics

Master of Science in Finance

Master of Science in International Business and Trade

Master of Science in Innovation and Industrial Management

Master of Science in Knowledge Based Entrepreneurship

Master of Science in Logistics and Transport Management

Master of Science in Management

Master of Science in Marketing and Consumption

The selection will be based on applicants admitted to one of the School of Business, Economics and Law’s Master’s programmes (listed above). Applicants for the Richard C. Malmsten Memorial Foundation scholarship are ranked by their GMAT minimum score. The score must be sent to the School of Business, Economics and Law by the test organization.  Applicants who have applied to the Graduate School’s Master’s programmes as their first priority are prioritized.  

Students without a GMAT score will not be considered for this scholarship.

If students have been offered any of the scholarships from the Swedish Institute or the study scholarships offered by the University of Gothenburg, they will not qualify for the Richard C. Malmsten Memorial Foundation Scholarship. The selection of students for the scholarship is made by the School of Business, Economics and Law’s selection committee and is not applicable for appeal.

BENEFIT:

The scholarship covers part of the tuition fee, specifically 100 000 SEK over two years. This means that students will receive a tuition fee waiver of 25 000 SEK per semester.

LAURENTIAN UNIVERSITY GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIP/FELLOWSHIP

LOCATION: Canada

Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs) are available to qualified full-time International or Domestic students who meet the minimum average for automatically receiving a GTA, which is set at 75%. The awards are designated partially as employment and partially as a Fellowship.

ELIGIBILITY:

You must be qualified full-time International or Domestic students who meet the minimum average for automatically receiving a GTA

If appointed, students are required to work up to ten hours a week in some form of teaching assistance. GTAs are only available to students registered full-time in the first two years of studies in Laurentian’s graduate master’s program and four years for PhD programs. Should an offer of admission letter indicate eligibility for GTA, it means the student has met the above-listed qualifications. The next step is to register for courses in both the Fall and Winter terms of the academic year he or she is admitted to.

The value of the GTA is reviewed annually. For further information, contact the Faculty of Graduate Studies or the department concerned.

BENEFIT:

The 2025-2026 value of the GTA is $10,034 for M.Sc. students ($4,901 is the salary portion paid on a bi-weekly basis, and the graduate fellowship is payable in one installment of $5,133 into the students’ Laurentian University account) and $14,547 for Ph.D. students ($7,270 in the salary portion paid on a bi-weekly basis, and the graduate fellowship is payable in one installment of $7,277 into the students’ Laurentian University account) and is subject to the same review for the coming years.
