MASTERCARD FOUNDATION UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARS PROGRAM AT EARTH UNIVERSITY

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at EARTH University provides educational opportunities to young people from disadvantaged communities in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. In addition to providing scholarships for young leaders, the program at EARTH integrates services such as mentoring, career counselling, service-learning opportunities, and internships. Following successful completion of EARTH University’s four-year program, the majority of Mastercard Foundation Scholars return to their countries as part of a growing movement of leaders committed to transforming global food systems and contributing to sustainable livelihoods across the continent.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must:

Be a resident and a graduating high school student of a country within Sub-Saharan Africa;

Demonstrate financial need correspondent to that of the lowest two quintiles of your country;

Have very strong academic results within your school system;

Have a record of leadership and extracurricular involvement;

Maintain a strong desire to return to Africa to assist and work towards enhanced regional socioeconomic development;

Be graduating from a recognized secondary school, or have completed the necessary academic requirements; and

Fulfill the necessary English requirements (dependent on country);

Three recommendation letters: Upload to the platform 3 recommendation letters from non-family members, using the provided PDF format. You can download the format by entering the platform.

Transcripts from the last 3 years of high school: Upload your high school transcripts from your last three completed years of high school (just high school; no transcripts from university or college).

High school diploma: Upload your high school diploma or certification of completion of studies

Supporting documents: Upload any other supporting documents: certificates of foreign language, special achievements, awards, completion of courses or training, etc.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars at Earth University will receive holistic support, which includes:

CALL FOR APPLICATION – JAPANESE GOVERNMENT (MEXT) SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2026 (TEACHER TRAINING STUDENTS)

The Embassy of Japan in Nigeria is now accepting applications for the MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology) scholarship program (Teacher Training Students Category).

Please send your application through a post office/courier service or submit it in person to us at the Embassy of Japan, No. 9 Bobo Street, off Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja, on or before Friday, the 30th, 2026

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan

Applicants, in principle, must be born on or after April 2, 2001

Academic Background

Applicants must be willing to learn Japanese.

Applicants must submit a health certificate in the prescribed format signed by a physician attesting that the applicant has no physical or mental conditions hindering the applicant’s study in Japan

In principle, applicants must be able to arrive in Japan between April 1, 2026, and April 7, 2026. Departure from the home residence should be on or after April 1, 2026.

Applicants shall, in principle, newly obtain a “Student” visa at the Japanese diplomatic mission located in the applicant’s country/region of nationality and enter Japan with the status of residence as “Student.”

BENEFIT:
Allowance of 117,000 yen per month. A supplemental regional allowance of 2,000 yen or 3,000 yen per month will be added to the monthly scholarship amount for the grantees studying or conducting research in specially designated regions.

Fees for the entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition at specialized training colleges and preparatory educational institutions will be waived.
