CAVENDISH ARTS SCIENCE FELLOWSHIP AT GIRTON COLLEGE

The Fellowship supports the Cavendish Arts Science ethos of experimenting, decentring and re-imagining. It is designed for artists to develop thought-provoking ideas through engagement with physicists and those in other fields, and to experiment with new approaches to their practice that are transformative and push boundaries.

ELIGIBILITY:

This unique collaborative opportunity is open to artists internationally and is not confined to any single aesthetic, theme or medium.

Artists with no previous experience of working with scientists or in a scientific environment are particularly encouraged to apply.

They are seeking adventurous artists who explore alternative ways of knowing the world, and who work with communities that are not privileged in the mainstream. The Fellowship offers opportunities for playful experimentation, and the space to re-imagine beyond conventional artistic and scientific boundaries.

The one-year Fellowship will begin in October 2024 and end in October 2025.

BENEFIT:

The Fellowship includes a residency period in Cambridge, typically of at least six months up to one year. Exact dates of the residency period are flexible and will be agreed with the selected artist.

Financial Support

A stipend of 10,000 GBP(£) will be paid to the successful candidate. This amount includes all taxes and is a contribution towards the artist’s living costs and expenses 

Rent-free accommodation and meals will be provided at Girton College during the residency period in Cambridge

A production budget of 10,000 GBP(£) will be made available to support the development of new work

A travel budget of up to 3,000 GBP(£) (depending on where the artist is based) will be available to support the cost of travel to/from Cambridge during the Fellowship

The YAMawards have recognised excellence in the field of live musical productions for young audiences. Now in the 15th edition of the competition, JM International (the world’s largest youth music network) is once again in search of creativity and innovation in the field of live music production for young audiences.

ELIGIBILITY:

The YAMawards 2024 are officially open and accepting applications in 5 marvellous categories: Best Small Ensemble. Best Large Ensemble, Best Opera, Best School Concert and Best Participatory Project. Soloists, groups, ensembles, operas and orchestras producing live music for audiences under 18 years of age are encouraged to apply for this international honour.

Entries are judged by a professional international jury who base their decision on the quality of music, the quality of performance, the relevance/necessity of the program, audience communication and its international potential.
