MCCAIN GLOBAL LEADERS PROGRAM

The McCain Global Leaders Program supports character-driven leaders from around the world who embody Senator John McCain’s legacy of serving a cause greater than oneself.  Structured as a 12-month fellowship and immersive learning experience, each cohort will include a diverse group of 25 leaders from around the world who are working “in the arena” to advance democracy, human rights, and freedom. The program is designed to advance each Leader’s personal and professional leadership journey and impact by providing training, resources, and access to highly relevant regional and global networks with the goal of preparing today’s leaders to meet tomorrow’s challenges.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants should be mid to senior- career professionals, possess working proficiency in English, and actively work on the focus issue areas of the program.  Aspiring McCain Global Leaders (MGLs) should work in a leadership role in their field, and actively be “in the arena” striving to enact change in their home communities.  Applicants should be committed to serving a cause greater than oneself and should be invested in full participation in virtual engagements, in-person programs and post program alumni activities. There is no minimum educational requirement.

Participants should have at least 5 years or more of career experience. There is no specific age requirement, however, typical MGLs range from 25 to 45 years old. Past participants have come from a variety of sectors.  They have included members of parliament, government ministers, journalists, medical doctors, activists, NGO leaders or managers or academics.

BENEFIT:

Participants will receive a stipend meant to cover incidental expenses incurred throughout the program. However the direct costs of participation in the program (economy class travel, hotels, visas) will be fully covered by the McCain Institute.  There will be no cost of participation other than the time commitment that MGLs make to participate in programming.

WCF AFRICA (POST-PRODUCTION FUNDING)

In cooperation with the German Federal Foreign Office the World Cinema Fund launched a special funding opportunity for projects from sub-Saharan Africa. All WCF submissions with projects from sub-Saharan Africa will automatically also be considered for the special funding by the WCF Africa programme.

ELIGIBILITY:

film production companies from sub-Saharan Africa regions, that can confirm their collaboration with a director from sub-Saharan Africa region/country or

registered film production companies based in Germany (in the commercial register or registered trade) that can prove a working relationship with a director from a sub-Saharan Africa region/country or

registered film production companies from other EU member states, provided they have a branch or place of business in Germany and can prove a working relationship with a director from a sub-Saharan Africa region.

BENEFIT:

Maximum funding: 40,000 Euros for post-production funding.

The total production costs of the supported projects should range between 200,000 Euros and 1,400,000 Euros.

The funding must be spent on the post-production of the film in the aforementioned regions.

The contractual partner is always the German partner.

Please note that the final expenditure report of funds must be delivered by October 2024, the latest.
