BEIJING GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP (BGS)

The Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS) is open for applications for international students wishing to continue their Master’s and Doctoral degree programs in China. The scholarship covers tuition fees only, and it falls into the five categories

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals.

Applicants must be in good health.

Education background and age limit as below: 

Applicants for Master degree must have Bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.

Applicants for Ph.D. degree must have a Master degree and be under the age of 40.

Visiting scholar must have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies and be under the age of 45.

Senior visiting scholar must have Master or higher degree or hold academic titles of associate professor or higher, and be under the age of 50.

Applicants should not be awardees of Chinese government scholarships at the same time.

  Application Form for Study in CAAS:

Highest diploma (notarized photocopy).

Academic transcripts of the most advanced studies (notarized photocopy).

Two reference letters from at least two Associate Professors or experts with equal titles in related fields.

A study or research plan (no less than 400 words for visiting study, no less than 500 words for postgraduates).

List of publications.

If any of these documents is written in a language other than English or Chinese, an official certified translation of the document must be included.

Verification of current employer or working unit.

International students should apply for visa to study in China at the Chinese embassy or consulate-general with the original documents and one set of photocopies of the Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study In China (Form JW201/JW202) and Foreigner Physical Examination Form (original copay and photocopy) and valid ordinary passport.

BENEFIT:

Doctoral student scholarship: 40,000 RMB/person/year. 

Master student scholarship: 30,000 RMB/person/year. 

Senior scholar’s scholarship: 10,000 RMB/person/year

Scholarship for exchange students (long-term or credit transferrable students) and students who make special contributions to international exchange and cooperation in the capital area: 5,000 RMB/person/year.

AFRICA HEALTH COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH FUND 2025

The Africa Health Collaborative (Health Collaborative) is a multistakeholder partnership dedicated to preparing diverse young people for the meaningful work of transforming health and well-being in Africa, through contextually appropriate and sustainable primary healthcare systems. 

ELIGIBILITY:

All proposals must be led by an Early Career Researcher from a Health Collaborative member institution (See Appendix 1 for the definition of ECR by each institution) and can be bilateral (2 ECRs between two Health Collaborative member partners) or multilateral (three ECRs between three or more member partners). Proposals must also include participation of masters, doctoral or post-doctoral trainees. Eligible applicants may only lead one application (Further application requirements for applicants at each institution can be found in Appendix 2). 

If you do not have a co-applicant from a Health Collaborative member institution, your application will be shared publicly in a repository for you to identify potential co-applicant(s) to apply for the Fund. 

External collaborators (including researchers from other universities internationally, or those working in non-academic contexts such as community organizations, government, NGOs) cannot lead an application but can be involved in the proposed activities, where the benefit of their involvement to the collaboration is justified in the proposal. 

Proposals may include targeted research support such as joint workshops, researcher exchanges, and the formation of research exchange groups between Health Collaborative member institutions.

Joint projects will commence from June 1, 2025 for a maximum of 18 months.

BENEFIT:

Bilateral projects are eligible to receive up to $22,000 USD – with each institution awarding up to $11,000 USD to investigators at their home institution.  (Multilateral proposals will be scaled up to $11,000 USD per institution). 

The funding provided is intended to support expenses including but not limited to costs of travel (ECRs, Post-Doctoral Fellows, research associates, graduate student researchers) between the institutions, and costs associated with research, workshops and meetings
