ETH4D DOCTORAL MENTORSHIP GRANTS

LOCATION:  Zürich

ETH4D provides grants for mentoring doctoral candidates from low- and lower-middle-income countries. The mentorship is a one-year appointment program.

ELIGIBILITY:

Eligible are doctoral candidates who are registered at a university or research institute in a least-​ developed, low-​ and lower-​middle-income country according to the DownloadOECD/DAC 2022 – 2023 list (PDF, 204 KB)vertical_align_bottom

The application needs to be submitted by the ETH professorship hosting the doctoral candidate. Applications directly submitted by the doctoral candidate will NOT be considered.

BENEFIT:

The grant covers expenses up to a maximum of 15,000 CHF and includes the following:

Economy roundtrip ticket (max. 2 kCHF) to and from Switzerland for the research stay

Visa fees

Travel allowance to attend an academic conference

Research material (e.g. lab equipment) (max 6 kCHF in total).

Fees for health insurance

Local transportation

Accommodation

Living allowance for the duration of the research stay at ETH Zurich

ALLAN GRAY CENTRE FOR AFRICA ENTREPRENEURSHIP (AGCAE) PHD AND MASTERS SCHOLARSHIPS

LOCATION: South Africa

The  AGCAE is currently accepting applications for its full-time, funded doctoral and masters research programmes. Applications will be considered for the PHD and Masters scholarship opportunities

ELIGIBILITY:

A candidate must meet the minimum criteria for admission to a PhD programme at Stellenbosch University. This requires a master’s degree in a relevant discipline for PhD applications.

A candidate must meet the minimum criteria for admission to a Master’s programme at Stellenbosch University. This requires an honours degree in a relevant discipline for Master’s applications.

The scholarships are open to South African citizens and African foreign nationals. Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged South African and African foreign national citizens.

Candidates must have achieved a minimum mark of:

70% in their master’s programmes to be eligible for the AGCAE Doctoral Scholarships.

70% in their honours’ programmes  to be eligible for the AGCAE Master’s Scholarships.

Only applications in one of the AGCAE’s 2023 AGCAE research themes will be considered.

BENEFIT:

AGCAE Doctoral Scholarships: Full-time doctoral scholarships valued at R250 000 per year for three years.

AGCAE Master’s Scholarships: Full-time masters scholarships valued at R150 000 per year for two years.
