THE CANON FEMALE PHOTOJOURNALIST GRANT

For the twenty-fourth year in a row, Canon and Visa pour l’Image will be presenting the prestigious Canon Female Photojournalist Grant to an outstanding photographer in recognition of her contribution to photojournalism.

ELIGIBILITY:

Entry is free. The application dossier must be sent no later than May 21, 2024 and must be sent without acknowledgement of receipt to the following FTP:

Applicants must have completed at least one photo-reportage (published or unpublished): applicants must be professional photojournalists and applicants must be able to write and speak in French and/or English

The application dossier will include the following items:

a signed application form,

a copy of the Applicant’s identity card or passport,

an affidavit stating that the candidate is a professional photojournalist (attestation of honor written by the photographer or from an agency or from a newspaper)

 a curriculum vitae,

a letter in support of the application including a description of the photo reportage project (maximum 1 typed page).

BENEFIT:

The grant of €8,000 provides funding to support a compelling new project which will be featured as an exhibition at the 2025 festival.

ARMS CONTROL NEGOTIATION ACADEMY (ACONA) FELLOWSHIP COHORT (FUNDED)

The Arms Control Negotiation Academy (ACONA) is a 12-month, high-level professional development program for a competitively selected cohort of rising international security experts and practitioners. 

ELIGIBILITY:

ACONA welcomes applications by highly qualified candidates of all nationalities who demonstrate 3-5 years of advanced professional or research experience in one of the following broad fields: (1) arms control and nuclear issues, (2) negotiation and mediation, and (3) international peace, security, and global affairs, particularly U.S.-Russia-China-EU relations. The most highly-qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate several years of professional or research experience in their field, international experience, an advanced degree, and public recognition of their achievements.

BENEFIT:

ACONA will provide an official invitation letter in support of participants’ travel to the boot camps.

ACONA will cover the cost of domestic and international travel to Iceland (economy class) and double room accommodation during the third boot camp for all ACONA participants. Also covered: course materials, some meals during boot camps. Not funded: visa application costs and fees, other personal, incidental, and misc. expenses. Please note that the first two bootcamps will be held virtually, and there will thus be no travel expenses associated with participation.

Upon successful completion of the program, Fellows will receive a Certificate in Arms Control Negotiation issued by the Arms Control Negotiation Academy. Fellows must participate fully in all program activities to obtain a certificate.
