İSTANBUL PHOTO AWARDS 2026

The İstanbul Photo Awards is open for application. All professional photographers and freelancers are encouraged to apply.

ELIGIBILITY:

The contest is open only for professional photographers.

The contest is open for photographers both freelancer and under the name of a company / agency. Freelancers can add company name for each submission at the INSERT IMAGE tab.

Applications are free and open between 13 Nov. 2025 – 9 Jan. 2026 at 23:59 (UTC+3) İstanbul time.

Photographs contain the relevant and correct information. Submitted photos must be taken in 2025 (between 1 Jan. 2025- 31 Dec. 2025).

The photographer has the liability for providing accurate personal information like name, age, company etc. besides the image info like date, location etc..

All submissions must have necessary information embedded into photographs IPTC like: title, description, creation date, city, and country. The info and category of the photographs can be updated until the deadline.

Photography captions must be written in English. Kindly check the caption limits before upload your photos.

No signatures, stamp or any other identifying mark is allowed anywhere on the entry. Photographer’s name or company should not be mentioned in the captions.

Digital manipulation and any kind of photoshop effects are not allowed, only basic color corrections are allowed. It is not allowed to add signatures on the photo or in the caption.

Photographers must be the copyright owner of the submitted photographs.

Photographs must not violate any third-party rights.

Photographers are invited to apply all categories at the same time, both with published and unpublished photos. 

Photographers can apply 4 different photos in single categories and 2 different stories in story categories.

Same photo cannot be submitted into two different categories. Story category applications should include 10 photos.

Kindly note that this contest is for professionals only, and İstanbul Photo Awards’ jury may ask for proof of the source of the photo or publications in newspapers, magazines, or websites.

BENEFIT:

2026 PRIZES: Single News 1st prize winner will be nominated as “Photo of the Year”, the laureate receives 6.000 USD in total.

IAN PARRY 2024 SCHOLARSHIP PRIZE FOR PHOTO JOURNALISTS (£10,000 PRIZE)

The Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant is an international photographic competition for young photographers who are 24 years of age or under, or anyone who is studying in a full-time photographic course. Entrants must submit a portfolio of 12 images and a clear proposal of a project they would undertake if they received the grant.

ELIGIBILITY:

Entrance is free

Entrants must be no older than 24 years of age or enrolled in a full-time photographic course at the time of entry.

The theme for this year 2024 contest is: Photojournalism and Documentary Photography

Candidates applying for the Grant should ensure that their application contains the following information:

Your name, date of birth, permanent address, personal email address, personal telephone number, and if applicable, college, the course title, and course tutor.

A portfolio of 12 photographs, either a photo essay or individual photos.

A project description giving us details of the portfolio you have uploaded for this application

A clear project proposal explaining what project you would undertake if you received the scholarship.

Extended captions for each image as a PDF document.

BENEFIT:

Each winner will receive £10,000 towards their chosen project

Publication of images by our media partner The Guardian

Loan of Canon equipment for 1 year for the IP Grant winner to complete their proposed project

Inclusion in the Hamburg portfolio review

Eligible for inclusion in the Canon Transmissions Programme at Visa Pour L’Image in Perpignan

A year-long personal mentorship with an industry expert

An assignment by the Founder and CEO of Legacy of War Foundation, renowned photojournalist Giles Duley

We also offer conflict training and body armour to the winner of the IP Photojournalism Grant

In addition, each year a selection of long-listed individuals will have their work spotlighted by the panel of industry judges

The honorary Tom Stoddart Award for Excellence may also be given yearly on the judges’ discretion
