COIMBRA GROUP UNIVERSITIES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG AFRICAN RESEARCHERS

LOCATION: Multiple Regions in Europe

Universities of the Coimbra Group offer short-term visits (generally 1 to maximum 3 months) to young African researchers from higher education institutions from Sub-Saharan Africa. The main aim of this scholarship programme is to enable scholars to undertake research in which they are engaged in their home institution and to help them establish academic and research contacts in Europe.

ELIGIBILITY:

Be born on or after 1 January 1980.

Be nationals of and current residents in a country in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Be current staff members of a university or an equivalent higher education institution in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Be preferably of doctoral/postdoctoral or equivalent status.

Be in possession of an acceptance letter/email from the tutor/supervisor with whom the work programme will be undertaken in the host institution. This document is mandatory.

Use the Coimbra Group Office electronic application process.

Apply for one university only. Multiple applications will not be considered valid.

Submit all information in English only.

TRANSVERSALIDADES PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

Application Deadline: 24:00 pm on April 21st, 2025 (Lisbon time).

LOCATION: Portugal

The call for submissions that portray spaces beyond and beyond borders, scattered across the various continents, aims, by documenting the diversity of Territories, Societies and Cultures, to read and interpret the multiplicity of natural, economic, social and cultural landscapes that are scattered across the vast geographies of the planet.

Themes: The pictures collected under this contest should portray the diversity of territories, societies and cultures of different continents in order to allow crossed looks on the changes which are taking place in different parts of the world, show different styles of social organization and space, capture signs of continuity and change, archaisms and innovations that manifest themselves in the most populous cities or rural areas, located in the most remote and distant and areas, which are facing depopulation. 

ELIGIBILITY:

There are four categories:

Landscapes, biodiversity, and natural heritage.
Rural areas, agriculture, and settlement.
The city and the urbanization process.
Culture and society: cultural diversity and social inclusion

Registration is free and universal.

Each candidate may only submit one portfolio with six (6) photos about a single subject of the contest

Applications will be submitted electronically through the http://www.cei.pt website

The application consists of:

the application form properly filled with the following fields: personal information about the author; description for each photo;

file with portfolio of six (6) photos:

Photos must be numbered from 1 to 6 according to the captions on the form;
ii. The file name must be identified by the identification the number of each contestant: identity card number, passport or other (Ex: 122258045.zip).
iii. File must be sent to the email ceibericos.transversalidades@gmail.com or via WeTransfer.

Each contestant will be assigned a code that will identify the candidate before the jury.

BENEFIT:

General Awards:

The Overall Winner (1) for the best and most complete submitted portfolio will receive a prize money of EUR 1,500.00 (one thousand five hundred euros)

The Winner of each theme (4) for the best and most complete portfolio will receive EUR 750.00 (seven hundred and fifty euros)

The Jury will also award up to 12 portfolios, each being awarded with EUR 150.00 (one hundred and fifty euros).
