PHD PROJECTS AT IOCB PRAGUE – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS 2025

IOCB Prague is looking for talented, independent, and highly motivated PhD students with an MSc. degree or equivalent in life sciences or related fields.

As a student here, you’ll have the opportunity to work on interesting projects in a first-class tutoring program. You will be in a vibrant international setting of a prestigious scientific institution, which has cutting-edge equipment and modern technologies and collaborates with leading research centers around the world as well as with important commercial partners.

ELIGIBILITY:

The universities have their own processes, conditions, and deadlines for PhD applications that differ from the IOCB recruitment process. IOCB has historically cooperated with Charles University and the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague. However, other universities are not excluded and you can discuss details with the project supervisor.

Deadlines for PhD applications to universities

Check the list of available PhD projects and read their detailed description. The projects are divided into three clusters:

CHEM – organic and medicinal chemistry 

BIO – biochemistry, bioinformatics, molecular biology

PHYS – analytical, physical, and computational chemistry

You can select up to 3 projects. You can cross the clusters, but it is not recommended – the clusters should help you to find your discipline of PhD study faster.

BENEFIT:

PhD students must be enrolled in a partner university and will be employed by IOCB at the same time (part-time or full-time) with a competitive salary (a scholarship from the university + a salary from IOCB).

BRITISH ACADEMY INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS

Application Deadline: Tuesday, 18th March 2025, 5:00 pm

LOCATION: United Kingdom

The BA International Fellowships Programme provides support for outstanding early career researchers to make a first step towards developing an independent research career through gaining experience across international borders. Each award is expected to involve a specific and protected research focus with the award holder undertaking high-quality, original research.

ELIGIBILITY:

The applicant must:

Have a PhD, or applicants in the final stages of their PhD will be accepted provided that the PhD will be completed (including viva) before the start date of the Fellowship. Confirmation of award of the PhD will be required before any Fellowship award is confirmed.

Applicants should have no more than 7 years of active full time postdoctoral experience at the time of application (discounting career breaks, but including teaching experience and/or time spent in industry).

Be living and working outside the UK (for at least 12 months at the time of application).

Not hold UK citizenship.

Be competent in oral and written English.

Have a clearly defined and mutually-beneficial research proposal agreed with a UK host researcher.

BENEFIT:

The International Fellowships offer support for three years and the award is offered at 80% FEC. Applicants may apply for research expenses of up to £12,000 and relocation costs of up to £8,000. Applicants will need to justify the level of research expenses and relocation costs requested in their
application.
