2026 INTERNATIONAL RTP STIPEND AND TUITION FEE SCHOLARSHIPS AT UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The University of Western Australia (UWA) provides postgraduate research scholarships that support the training of domestic and international students to undertake a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) and to deliver graduates with the skills required to build careers in both academic and non-academic employment.

This stipend scholarship is tenable at The University of Western Australia for up to two years for Masters by Research candidates and three and a half years for Doctoral candidates.

ELIGIBILITY:

Domestic RTP Tuition Fees Offset Scholarship: Automatically provided to all domestic HDR students, without the need for a competitive application process.

International RTP Tuition Fees Offset Scholarship: Awarded to selected international HDR students on the basis of a competitive application process.

To apply for and receive a stipend and/or allowance scholarship, an applicant must:

Meet the requirements for entry to the nominated course;

Be eligible to be enrolled as a full-time and internal student, unless the University approves otherwise;

To be considered for a scholarship, an applicant must meet the HDR course admission requirements.

Meet the UWA HDR English language competence requirements by the application deadline; and

be available to take up an offered scholarship by the commencement date advertised for that round.

Not be in receipt of income from another source to support their general living costs while undertaking their course of study if that income is greater than 75% of their stipend rate. Income unrelated to the course of study (e.g. employment after hours) or income related to the course of study not for the purpose of supporting general living costs is not taken into account (e.g. research support or travel allowance funds);

Meet all eligibility criteria listed in these Conditions; and

Meet all additional criteria advertised on the University’s relevant scholarship web pages.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TALENTED UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS IN SLOVAKIA

LOCATION: Slovakia

This scholarship programme is designed for all international students worldwide, including Slovaks living abroad, who plan to pursue higher education in Slovakia in the academic year 2025/2026. The scholarship is exclusively designated for full-time bachelor’s, full-time combined bachelor’s and master’s studies, and full-time master’s studies at a selected public Slovak higher education institution (HEI).

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

citizenship of a country other than Slovakia, which must be confirmed by an acceptable form of identification (generally a passport; those from countries within the European Union, EEA and Switzerland can use a national ID card). Dual citizenship than includes Slovak and another citizenship is allowed. This does not apply to Slovaks living abroad with the Slovak citizenship, who submit a copy of the Certificate in accordance with § 7 of Act No. 474/2005 Coll. on Slovaks Living Abroad, along with their scholarship application.

no permanent or temporary residence in Slovakia since January 1st, 2020 until the date of submitting the scholarship application (demonstrated by the applicant’s solemn declaration, template is available for download during the application process), with the exception of temporary residence for attending a Slovak language or study preparation course (which must be confirmed by the applicant’s HEI), or with the exception of temporary residence for participating in an activity or programme under the Erasmus+ programme or the European Solidarity Corps  programme (which must be confirmed by a Certificate of Participation), or other academic mobility. This does not apply to applicants for a scholarship at the master’s level of study who have previously been supported by a scholarship scheme financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) during their bachelor’s studies (demonstrated by the applicant’s solemn declaration, template is available for download during the application process),

no prior study at a secondary school or higher education institution (HEI) in Slovakia, except for academic mobilities. Studies completed outside of Slovakia are not a contradicting factor for applying for this scholarship. This condition does not apply to applicants for a scholarship at the master’s level who have already been supported by a scholarship scheme financed by the RRP during their bachelor’s studies. In the case of study at a secondary school, this condition does not apply to Slovaks living abroad with Slovak citizenship who submit a copy of the Certificate in accordance with § 7 of Act No. 474/2005 Coll. on Slovaks Living Abroad along with their scholarship application.

completed secondary education for applicants applying for a scholarship at the bachelor’s or combined bachelor’s and master’s level (it may be completed in the academic year 2024/2025; verified by the HEI during the admission process), or completed first-level higher education (bachelor’s degree) for applicants applying for a scholarship at the master’s level (verified by the HEI during the admission process),

for applicants for a scholarship at the bachelor’s or combined bachelor’s and master’s level: admission to a public Slovak HEI for a bachelor’s study programme or a combined bachelor’s and master’s study programme, with studies taking place in the territory of the Slovak Republic (at the time of submitting the scholarship application, it is sufficient to have applied to a public Slovak HEI). For applicants for a scholarship at the master’s level: admission to a public Slovak HEI for a master’s study programme, with studies taking place in the territory of the Slovak Republic (at the time of submitting the scholarship application, it is sufficient to have applied to a public Slovak HEI),

full time, in-person study programme,

the scholarship application must include a structured CV in English and a motivation letter in English (template will be available for download), in which the applicant has to specifically explain their motivation for studying in Slovakia, as well as simply demonstrate their talent characteristics,

no upper age limit, applicants under the age of 18 will need a hand-signed approval from their legal guardian (template will be available for download).

BENEFIT:

The scholarship programme grants up to €15,000. The scholarship is paid out monthly over the first three continuing academic years of the bachelor’s degree programme, combined bachelor’s and master’s degree study programme or two continuing academic years of master’s degree programme in Slovakia, with a payment of €500 per month.  The academic year in Slovakia starts on September 1st and ends on August 31st of the following year. The scholarship is provided for a duration of ten months each year, from September through June.
