ÉMILE BOUTMY SCHOLARSHIP AND BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAMME MASTER’S LEVEL

The Émile Boutmy scholarship fund benefits from the generous support of its sponsors (benefactors, companies, and foundations), who are eager to allow the most deserving international students to study at Sciences Po. Private sponsors can be in direct contact with scholarship holders during official organized events.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be first-time applicants to Sciences Po, from a non-European Union state, whose household does not file taxes within the European Union, and who have been admitted to the Undergraduate or Master’s programme.

Candidates who have dual citizenship, one of them being an EU citizenship

Candidates from Quebec for a master’s degree (since they may take advantage of sliding scale fees the same as European applicants). Candidates from Quebec for a bachelor’s degree are eligible

Candidates for the Joint Master’s in Journalism and International Affairs and for the Master’s in journalism

Master’s level dual-degree candidates, unless you are applying for one of the following programmes:

the dual degree in Journalism Sciences Po/Columbia University

the dual degree Sciences Po/Fudan University with the concentration Europe-Asia in Global Affairs (only applicants with Chinese nationality)

the dual degree Sciences Po/Peking University (only applicants with Chinese nationality)

Ph.D. programme students (thesis)

Candidates for the 1 year Master’s programmes

Bachelor dual degree candidates (unless as part of a specific agreement)

Exchange students

Candidates applying via the French graduate admission procedure

The Émile Boutmy scholarship:

may not be combined with any other scholarship awarded by Sciences Po and its partners (Mastercard, CARE, Fondation de France/René Seydoux, China Scholarship council, etc.);

may be combined with external scholarships (Eiffel, AEFE, French government scholarships, etc.).

BENEFIT:

BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAMME: The Émile Boutmy scholarship is awarded to students arriving at Sciences Po for their first year of studies.

The Émile Boutmy scholarship entitles students to either a total exemption or an exemption of €9,500 from tuition fees.

MASTERS LEVEL: The Émile Boutmy scholarship is awarded to students arriving at Sciences Po for their first year of study.

The Émile Boutmy scholarship entitles the recipient to an €18,500 exemption from tuition fees for each of the two years of the Master’s programme.

UNIVERSITY OF GENEVA EXCELLENCE MASTER FELLOWSHIPS

LOCATION: Switzerland

The Faculty of Science of the University of Geneva, with the support of external partners, has established an Excellence Fellowship program open to outstanding and highly motivated students who wish to pursue a Master of Science degree in one of the disciplines covered by the Faculty. Candidate selection is based on excellence. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Regardless of your home university, whether you have passed or are doing a brilliant bachelor’s degree, and that you are one of the best in your year2, this program is for you! You must meet the admission criteria of the Master of your choice3 and be selected on the basis of the application file for an Excellence Fellowship.

For the application to be considered, each student has to fulfill the enrollment procedure as described on the Admissions office website.

if you are a student at the UNIGE: a scan of your UNIGE card

if you are not yet a student at the UNIGE, the mail entitled “UNIGE-Candidature: Dépôt de votre dossier” that you received after registering for the master’s program (proof that you have begun the registration process) is required.

The application (in English or French) must include the following documents in the form of a SINGLE pdf file:

A scan of your national identity card or passport.

A Curriculum Vitae (2 pages maximum).

The transcript of exams passed during the bachelor’s education, with all grades.

A motivation letter in which you describe your specific scientific interests and your motivation to pursue a Master of Science program at the University of Geneva.

Letters of reference from two professors attesting to your aptitude for this program.

Any other pertinent information, like results of the GRE (General requirement examination), of TOEFL or other language tests.

The application is made online, from the beginning of January of each year. After registering, you will receive an e-mail containing a personal link allowing you to fill out the application form.

Next application deadline is 28 February, 2026 (for Masters starting September 14, 2026).

BENEFIT:

The Excellence Fellowship consists of a grant amounting to CHF 10’000 to CHF 15’000/year (no teaching duties); it is awarded for one year and extended for the regular duration of the chosen Master’s program (three or four semesters) provided the applicant is academically successful at the end of his/her first semester of studies.
