CALL FOR VIDEO PROPOSALS: DAY WITH(OUT) ART 2025

Visual AIDS invites artists and filmmakers to submit proposals for new video works highlighting stories of harm reduction and drug use and their intersection with HIV. Videos will premiere on December 1, 2025 at over 150 venues worldwide as part of Day With(out) Art / World AIDS Day.

ELIGIBILITY:

They welcome proposals from both emerging and established artists in a range of forms, including documentary, narrative, and experimental. Collaborative proposals are also welcome.

Anyone may submit a proposal, regardless of geographic location or HIV status. Artists and filmmakers who are living with HIV are encouraged to apply.

Proposals should be submitted in English but may be translated with Google Translate or ChatGPT prior to submission. For the second year we are offering a Spanish language application page, but request that all materials be provided in both Spanish and English.

Commissioned videos may be in any language. Visual AIDS will work with artists to produce English subtitles. Applicants should be aware that communication with Visual AIDS during the commission process will require some use of English, though we are happy to utilize translation tools over email and Zoom.

BENEFIT:

Up to five selected artists will receive a $3,000 honorarium to produce a short video work (6–8 minutes).

UNSW WELCOME SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS FROM REFUGEE BACKGROUNDS

The Welcome Scholarship for Students from Refugee Backgrounds has been established to support talented students who are refugees on permanent humanitarian or refugee visas with the opportunity to pursue tertiary education at UNSW.

Students who are refugees on permanent humanitarian or refugee visas with a genuine interest and passion to undertake studies at UNSW are strongly encouraged to apply for this Scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible, applicants must:

Be commencing an eligible UNSW coursework degree program in 2024*; and,

Have received an offer of admission into an eligible program for Term 3, 2024 by Wednesday, 31 July 2024; and,

Be a refugee currently holding** one of the following visas:

Global Special Humanitarian Visa (Subclass 202)

Protection Visa (Subclass 866)

Refugee Visa (Subclass 200, 201, 203 or 204)

*Students may submit an application if they have applied to UNSW for a coursework degree program commencing in 2024 (via UAC or by any other UNSW admissions scheme) and have not yet received an offer of admission.

**The eligible visa must be ‘in effect’ by the application deadline.

To enable UNSW to verify that the applicant holds one of the specified visas, the applicant must include in the application a copy of their current passport, or the travel documentation used to enter Australia. Accordingly, a copy of one of the following documents must be provided:

Passport

Immicard

Titre de Voyage

PLO56 (M56)

Document For Travel To Australia (DFTTA)

Documentation and visa status will be checked using the Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) service. Please contact UNSW Scholarships if you are unsure about the documentation requirements. Any applications without the required documentation will not be assessed.
