ENWAT DOCTORAL PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP 2026 AT UNIVERSITY OF STUTTGART (FULLY FUNDED PHD POSITIONS)

The international Doctoral Program “Environment Water” (ENWAT) of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering Sciences, University of Stuttgart, Germany, in collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), opens a call for max. 2 PhD positions for research in Environment Water. Each project involves high-quality research and state-of-the-art techniques and is supervised by excellent researchers. They are looking for highly motivated and talented students with a passion for science. Candidates must demonstrate an excellent performance in their previous academic education.

ELIGIBILITY:

Resume/CV showing the applicant’s background, professional skills, a list of publications and oral and poster presentations, as well as additional achievements (scholarships, awards, etc.).

M.Sc., Dipl.-Ing. or equivalent degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Management, Microbiology, Environmental Engineering or related sciences

B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Management, Microbiology, Environmental Engineering or related sciences

Copies of Certificates and Transcripts, including all undergraduate-level certificates and university degrees. All documents that are not in English or in German must be accompanied by copies of a legally certified English translation (for the application we will accept copies, but please be aware that originals or legally certified copies will be needed for the final phase). In case any differences between the copies and the originals show up, the application will be dismissed.)

Please make sure that the copies of the transcripts show not only the grades but also explain the home grades’ system (please add a copy of the description of the grade scale).

At the time of nomination to the DAAD (Dec 2025), generally no more than 6 years should have passed since the last degree was gained.

Only international (non-German) applicants can be accepted. At the time of nomination to the DAAD (Dec 2025), the candidate must not have been a resident in Germany for more than the last 15 months.

Unless a native speaker: proficiency in English (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, etc.), or proof that the M.Sc. and B.Sc. programs were held in English.

2 Reference letters from university professors from the applicants’ home university, issued during the last 2 years.

TULANE UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FINANCIAL AID

Tulane offers up to $30,000 in need-based financial aid to international students who qualify and who have not already been awarded that amount or more in merit scholarships. Students must reapply for need based aid every year. To apply, you must submit a CSS Profile and all necessary supporting documents. It is highly recommended you do so by February 15.

ELIGIBILITY:

All applicants are considered for partial merit scholarships by completing the Common Application for admission. To be considered for all scholarships, however, international students should complete the following 5 steps, as they may evaluate both your need and merit in their awarding process:

Global Scholarship:

Tulane’s Global Scholarships are renewable for 4 years (5 years for students in the 5-year Architecture program). Please note that:

Applicants in the top 20% academically (based on testing and high school/secondary school record) of the applicant pool are most competitive for these scholarships

You should submit an Early Action (November 15) or Early Decision (November 1) application for admission to be competitive for these scholarships

Nominations are made by the admission committee and are based on your Common Application and Tulane Scholarship Application, which can only be submitted after your Common Application. Your Tulane Scholarship Application must be submitted through your Green Wave Portal

Candidates may be invited to participate in a video interview with the international admission committee by March 31

Regional Scholarships for International Students:

Tulane offers a variety of merit scholarships to high-achieving international students in various regions around the world. These include the Latin American Scholar Award, the South Asian Scholar Award, and the Sub-Saharan African Leadership Award. These partial or full-tuition awards are renewable for 4 years (5 years for students in the 5-year Architecture Program). Nominations are made by the admission committee and based on your Common Application for admission and Tulane Scholarship Application, which must be submitted after you submit your Common Application. Your Tulane Scholarship Application must be submitted through your Green Wave Portal.
