GOOGLE PHD FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Google PhD Fellowships directly support graduate students as they pursue their PhD.

Nurturing and maintaining strong relations with the academic community is a top priority at Google. The Google PhD Fellowship Program was created to recognize outstanding graduate students doing exceptional and innovative research in areas relevant to computer science and related fields. Fellowships support promising PhD candidates of all backgrounds who seek to influence the future of technology.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Google PhD Fellowship Program welcomes applications for outstanding PhD students worldwide. The details of each fellowship vary by region. Please see their FAQ for eligibility requirements and application instructions.

Students must remain enrolled full-time in the PhD program for the duration of the fellowship or forfeit the award.

Google employees and their spouses, children, and members of their household are not eligible.

Students that are already supported by a comparable industry award are not eligible. Government or non-profit organization funding is exempt.

Past awardees from the PhD fellowship program are not eligible to apply again.

Application Process: PhD students from Africa, Australia, Canada, East Asia, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and the United States, must be nominated for the fellowship by their university. Applications must be submitted by an official representative of the university during the application window. Please contact your department or graduate school for more information on the internal nomination process.

Research areas of focus: Google PhD Fellowship students are a select group recognized by Google researchers and their institutions as some of the most promising young academics in the world. The fellowships are awarded to students who represent the future of research in the fields listed below. Note that region-specific research areas will be listed in application forms during the application window.

BENEFIT:

Africa

Up to 3 year Fellowship

US $15K to cover stipend and other research related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel

Australia and New Zealand

1 year Fellowship

AUD $20K to cover stipend and other research related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel

Canada and the United States

Up to 2 year Fellowship

US $85K per year towards education costs (tuition and fees), living expenses, travel, and personal equipment (effective from 2025 for new recipients)
East Asia

1 year Fellowship

US $10K to cover stipend and other research related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel

Europe and the Middle East

Up to 2 year Fellowship

Yearly bursary towards stipend / salary, health care, social benefits, tuition and fees, conference travel and personal computing equipment. The bursary varies by country.

India

Early-stage PhD students

Up to 4 year Fellowship

US $50K to cover stipend and other research-related activities and travel expenses including overseas travel

Late-stage PhD students

1 year Fellowship

US $10K to recognize research contributions, cover stipend and other research related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel

Latin America

Up to 2 year Fellowship

US $15K per year to cover stipend and other research related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel

Southeast Asia:

Up to a 3-year Fellowship

US $10K per year for up to 3 years (or up to graduation, whichever is earlier) to cover stipend and other research-related activities and travel expenses including overseas travel

IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORTING DISABLED STUDENTS

LOCATION: United Kingdom

One award is available in each faculty for a candidate with a disability in Postgraduate taught, Master’s research at the Imperial College London.

ELIGIBILITY:

One award is available in each faculty for a candidate with Home and Overseas Fee status. 

Have an offer of admission from Imperial College London to study a one-year full-time or two-year part-time Master’s course; and

Have a disability as defined in section 6 of the Equality Act 2010.

A disability is a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on a person’s ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities. Examples include:

Physical impairment

Vision impairment/Blind

Hearing impairment/Deaf

Specific Learning Difficulty, e.g., Dyslexia, Dyspraxia

Learning or intellectual disability

Neurodivergence or neurological disorder

Eligible Master’s courses

As well as the above criteria, you must also apply for an eligible course:

One-year full-time or two-year part-time Master’s course in the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Imperial Business School

Receive an offer of a place for 2026 entry by the scholarship deadline of 23:59 (UK local time) on 8 May 2026.

Firmly accept the offer by the relevant deadline.

Complete our Scholarship application form by the deadline of 23:59 (UK local time) on 8 May 2026. Applicants do not need to provide disability evidence in the application form; nor should they send any disability-related details to the Student Financial Support team. 

BENEFIT:

Each scholarship covers:

Tuition fees up to £18,500* for eligible Master’s courses

Maintenance grant of £21,000

An allowance of £1,500 for equipment

Mentoring support through the Activate Student Mentoring Programme

Please keep in mind that this scholarship only covers up to £18,000. If you are an overseas candidate and are awarded the scholarship, you must arrange for payment of the remaining balance.
