DORRIT HOFFLEIT UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP AT YALE UNIVERSITY

The Dorrit Hoffleit Undergraduate Astronomy Research Fellowship at Yale University extends their application to students of all nationality interested in spending the summer at Yale working as a Researcher in Astronomy.

ELIGIBILITY:

Undergraduate science majors in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or Physics, who at the time of application are in their 2nd or 3rd year of undergraduate study.

Students of any nationality.

Students with a strong desire to continue on to graduate school are particularly encouraged to apply.

BENEFIT:

In addition to a stipend of $450 per week (paid bi-weekly), students will be provided with housing within the historic Yale Residential Colleges as well as weekly, 15-meal vouchers to be used at the residential colleges. Up to $1000 in reimbursement for travel expenses will be provided.

ZERIBE NWOSU SCHOLARSHIP UNDERGRADUATE TO POSTGRADUATE TRANSITION PROGRAM

Application for the 2024 Zeribe Nwosu Scholarship (ZNS) – Undergraduate to Postgraduate Phase is hereby invited from qualified candidates who are currently enrolled in any undergraduate degree subject in any public Nigerian university or polytechnic.

ELIGIBILITY:

Only year 2 or year 4 students are eligible for this scholarship. Do not apply if in year 1, 3, or 5.

Your letter of reference must clearly state that you are in year 2 (if applying for the year 2 zns) or year 4 (if applying for the year 4 zns). The letter must also mention that you will still be in year 2 or year 4 by april 1 (the application closing date). Applicants whose letter does not adhere to this instruction may be disqualified.

For Year 2 students:

Applicant must:
be in year 2 of undergraduate studies.
be a student in a public Nigerian university or polytechnic or college of education
have attained a cumulative grade point aggregate (CGPA) of at least 4* on a scale of 5 in one of the two semesters of Year 1. CGPA of both semesters should be provided.

*For polytechnic students or students of universities using 4.0 as scale, a rough conversion of the CGPA to percentage is acceptable. CGPA of 3.2 out of 4.0 or 70% will be considered. 

For Year 4 students:

Applicant must:
be in year 4 of undergraduate studies.
be a student in a public Nigerian university, polytechnic or college of education
have attained a cumulative grade point aggregate (CGPA) of at least 3.5* on a scale of 5 (from year 1-3).

*For polytechnic students or students of universities using 4.0 as scale, a rough conversion of the CGPA to percentage is acceptable. CGPA of 2.8 out of 4.0 or 70% will be considered. Medical students should present their Year 1 results as well as evidence of achieving “Pass” for the subjects taken in Year 2-3.

BENEFIT:

N50,000 each to 10 awardees in Year 2. 

N100,000 each to 25 awardees in Year 4.
