UTS HUMANITARIAN UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

The UTS Humanitarian Scholarship has been established to support undergraduate studies for students holding asylum seeker bridging or temporary protection visas as a result of their arrival to Australia as asylum seekers or humanitarian entrants.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:

Have temporary asylum seeker or refugee residence status and hold a Temporary Protection Visa (subclass 785), or Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (subclass 790), or Temporary Visa (subclass 449) Bridging Visa A – E and has made an application for a Protection Visa  or Temporary Humanitarian Concern Visa (subclass 786); and

Applicants holding an Australian Bridging Visa A–E will be required to provide either evidence that they have lodged an application for a Protection Visa (Subclass 866), or a letter from a recognised refugee or asylum support organisation, or migration lawyer, confirming that they are seeking asylum in Australia and outlining the status of their protection matter.

Be able to demonstrate that they do not have the financial means to support payment of their tuition fees without receiving the Scholarship; and

Have applied and been deemed eligible for admission to a UTS undergraduate degree or UTS postgraduate coursework degree; and

Apply and commence at UTS in the next available intake for the course after completion of their study used as their basis of admission; and

Be intending to enroll full-time; and

All candidates must apply and complete the UTS online Scholarships Application (incomplete applications will not be considered); and

All candidates must be available to attend an interview, if required.

UTS VICE-CHANCELLOR’S INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

LOCATION: Australia

This scholarship was established to support high-achieving commencing international students enrolling in an undergraduate program at UTS in Sydney. The scholarship is to be offered to international students who exhibit the university’s core values and can demonstrate commitment to excellence, innovation, entrepreneurship, and social justice.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must:

Remain an international student (not an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of Australia); and

Meet UTS admission criteria for the selected UTS undergraduate program by the closing date of the scholarship application; and

Commence full-time studies and on campus (Sydney); and

Completed an Australian Year 12 or high school studies comparable to an Australian Year 12 outside of Australia within three (3) years prior to commencing at UTS and be admitted based on this qualification to UTS; and

Have an overall average of 85% where the pass mark is 50% or equivalent in a UTS recognized high school qualification; and

All applicants must apply using the UTS online Scholarships Application form to be eligible; and

Must not be:

Studying a UTS online degree or distance mode degree; or

A recipient of other UTS International Grants or Scholarships, unless approved by exception and outlined in the Conditions of Award.

On-campus studies include face-to-face and/or online (remote) learning applicable to all degrees except online degrees and distance mode degrees.

The scholarship will be awarded to the highest-ranked applicant on the basis of academic merit in the academic qualification used as a basis for admission into the selected UTS Bachelor degree program coupled with the applicant’s response to the questions asked in the UTS online scholarship application.
