32ND PHOTO CONTEST, “CAMINOS DE HIERRO”

The Spanish Railways Foundation is holding the 32nd ‘Caminos de Hierro’ photography competition with the aim of promoting creativity in the railway sector.

ELIGIBILITY:

Each contestant will submit a maximum of three individual photographs or a photographic series related to the world of railways. The photographs must be unpublished, may only have been submitted by their authors, and may not have been manipulated using Artificial Intelligence .

They must be sent by October 31 2024, in digital format through the form on the website www.caminosdehierro.es (jpg. maximum 1.5 MB). The series will consist of three, four or five photographs, assembled into a single file. A maximum of 150 works will be preselected.

BENEFIT:

First Prize: €4,000

Second Prize: €2,000

Runner-up: four €400 prizes

Instagram Prize: €800

THE BRITISH ACADEMY VISITING FELLOWSHIPS

Application Deadline: October 23, 2024, 17:00 BST

LOCATION: England

This programme enables academics from any country overseas to be based at a UK higher education or other research institution of their choice for up to six months and develop collaborative projects with UK colleagues.

ELIGIBILITY:

Visiting Fellows must be of postdoctoral level or above, or have equivalent research experience at the time of application. Candidates should be based outside of the UK at the time of application. Applicants may be on permanent or fixed-term contracts. Fixed-term contracts must not end before the end date of the Visiting Fellowship. Independent scholars are also welcome to apply.

Applicants must demonstrate that they have been in contact with their UK host institution prior to applying. Please note that the British Academy is not able to assist with locating of facilitating contact with a UK host institution.

The British Academy welcomes applications from a diverse range of UK host institutions, and would particularly encourage applications from historically and/or structurally disadvantaged groups, low-income countries, and female researchers.

BENEFIT:

Visiting fellowships are available for a period of between 3 to 6 months. Applicants will be asked to provide their preferred start date for their fellowship over the spring and summer (March-August 2025).

The maximum funding available is £40,000.
