COMMONWEALTH 2025 PEACE PRIZE FOR COMMONWEALTH CITIZENS.

The Commonwealth Peace Prize will be awarded to a distinguished peacebuilder with a strong track record of faith-based engagement in conflict resolution, promotion of social cohesion, and sustainable peace. The prize, organised and delivered by the Khalili Foundation in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat, is a part of the Commonwealth Faith Festival and Faith in the Commonwealth Initiative.

ELIGIBILITY:

The winner of the Prize will be a living, distinguished and long-serving individual/ Commonwealth citizen over the age of 30 who:

is considered a respected and trusted broker between conflicting parties, with a strong and lengthy track record of successful peacebuilding in Commonwealth societies;

has built sustainable mechanisms, institutions or processes for dialogue which have, based on objective evaluation, contributed to a definitive end to conflict, lasting peace, social cohesion, or other observed positive change;

has, in the pursuit of those efforts, consistently used their significant influence to promote the Commonwealth values of tolerance, respect, understanding, moderation, celebration of cultural, racial, ethnic diversity and religious freedom; and

has used principles of religious faith and/or faith in the Commonwealth Charter to create positive and sustainable peace towards the aim of free and democratic societies and inclusive development.

Individuals who have received other international peace prizes or have been recognised for their efforts at a high level are eligible for nomination.

Nomination requirements:

Nominations open on International Peace Day, 21 September 2024, and close on 17 January 2025

Only member governments, through their High Commissions in London or non-resident High Commissioners or accredited officials to the Commonwealth, and

Heads of Commonwealth Accredited Organisations are eligible to submit official nominations.

Nominations must be submitted to the Commonwealth Secretariat by email to PeacePrize@commonwealth.int and be received by 23:59 GMT on 17 January 2025.

Nominations must be submitted as an official letter of recommendation, including an impact biography of the candidate, which outlines how the candidate meets all the specified criteria.

The winner will be presented with a citation and a letter of award outlining a financial award of £50,000 to be used to continue their work.

QUEEN MARY UNIVERSITY OF LONDON GLOBAL TALENT SCHOLARSHIP – UNDERGRADUATE

LOCATION: England

Queen Mary University of London is delighted to offer Global Talent Scholarships worth £3,000 for highly qualified undergraduate offer holders joining us in September 2025. The scholarship is available to all international students with an offer for an eligible program, regardless of nationality, who meet the following criteria:

Achieve A-level grades AAA or equivalent. 

hold an offer for an eligible undergraduate programme for the September 2025 intake

have international  fee status  

ELIGIBILITY:

You must have achieved the required A-level grades or overseas equivalent
2025 Undergraduate Overseas Equivalences [PDF 637KB].

Senior Status LLB offer holders with a 1st class degree (or equivalent) will be considered for a Global Talent Scholarship. 

This scheme is available only to students who apply for and enrol on an eligible course taught at Queen Mary in the 2025/26 academic year. Scholarships cannot be deferred to subsequent years of study.

Your fee status must have been confirmed as ‘Overseas’ by Queen Mary and must remain ‘Overseas’ throughout the programme. This award is not available to applicants assessed as ‘Home’ for fee status purposes, regardless of domicile. 

You must be fully self-funded.

You must be enrolled on a full-time programme.

You must not be in receipt of any other University scholarship or full-fee scholarship from any other source. 

If you are awarded the scholarship, it will be deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the University. You must be able to finance the remainder of your tuition fees and living expenses. 

Scholarship offers will be made by our Admissions office at point of offer. Recipients will be notified via their applicant portal.  

The scholarship will be confirmed when your admissions status is ‘unconditional firm’ (UF) and you enrol at Queen Mary. 

The scholarship is only available for the first year of your undergraduate degree.  In subsequent years you will be eligible to pay the full tuition fee.

The scholarship is awarded by Queen Mary in line with the eligibility criteria and application requirements published above. We reserve the right to withdraw the scholarship if your fee status changes to Home or if you otherwise become ineligible for the award.
